Ocean Love

Living in California made me fall in love with the ocean. There's really no explanation worthy of my words and your thoughts that would ever describe how I feel when I hear the waves clash or when I sit in the sand looking out on the endless horizon in front of me. It's like me living a different life in that particular moment, or just me feeling at peace, or me simply finding tranquility amidst the regular craziness in my life.

So, today, while walking home from my eye appointment holding my free vanilla latte in hand (screw the gluten free stuff) my iPod randomly picked songs that were either titled something with ocean, water, sea, drown or something in that category. It's a gloomy and hot day today so listening to songs that reminded me of California and the ocean made me smile. People probably thought I was nuts walking around with a huge smile on my face but I did not care.

A drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was prayin that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most, cause you are my heaven

by Ron Pope - A Drop in the Ocean

Lately, I'm on a listen-to-all-kinds-of-music kind of trip. It's nice. I rediscovered my old CDs from when I was in junior high all girlie loving boy bands, and hanging posters up in my old room of heartthrobs of all kinds of bands. I found those CDs and laughed hard. I no longer am a teenager and I no longer fall head over heals for artists I see on posters and wish to put those posters on my walls. I am a grown up woman loving good lyrics, beats and sounds.

So lately especially yesterday and today, I'm on a Jay Ollero kick. If you haven't heard of him you are missing out. How I heard of him? I met him and he gave me his CD. Personally. Really, I'm not kidding here. I simply didn't mind. Maybe he wanted to get rid of his CD after a concert and handed it to me and my two friends but oh boy, his music isn't ''mediocre" as he called it himself that night. Nope. It's different, yes, but that makes it special and in my opinion perfect and quite fantastic. My favorite song so far?
Drown. Of course it's got an ocean theme in there somehow.

Yeah you took me by surprise
Caught up in the rising tide
Lost at sea no coast in sight
I'm terrified

And I've got nowhere to hide

Love is deep like an ocean
And your waves throw me around
Hurts my heart when we're apart
Feels like, feels like I'm gonna drown

So, Jay, if you ever read this...know that we are glad we met you and got your awesome CD. Thank you!

Song of the Day - The Lumineers

Do I need to say more? I don't think so.

Happy Valentine's Day Week.

Diamonds!

Can't help it.
It's my favorite song of fall 2012!

Imagine driving on a cloudy, grey, and wet day...surrounded by trees with a glimpse of the ocean and birds flying above your head or something like that. Ya know, the typical romantic but fall-like scene that makes you cuddle up with a cozy blanket on the couch with a hot drink in your hand...and then this song. We have all experienced this...and certain songs just remind us of something or someone or let our imagination flow like a wild river going crazy after a storm.

This song does that to me. It inspires me. It works for me.

What song works for you?!

Happy September!!!

Holy cow. It's September!!! WOW.

What I am mostly looking forward to this month...is the upcoming Pumpkin Spice Lattes (hello??!!), a movie or two, hopefully cooler weather, and new sound that inspires me to do the right thing in life. May sound cliche and maybe it is but I need to make some seriously important decisions to make and I cannot come up with a plausible answer that would help me out. It's frustrating. But, I know whatever I decide will be okay and lead to new adventures!

So for today and for this longer weekend (at least here in the United States)...I need some music inspiration that literally gets me from summer to autumn (or fall how I love to call this new season!). Especially when it's around 90 degrees outside *add sarcasm*

I see colored leaves, wet streets, umbrellas, boots, and a hot drink or two when I listen to the following two songs. Not sure why. ;)

A fantastic mix of various songs can be found right on this whole album, and it absolutely gets me through the day, too. Have fun listening to all of this, and have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Wordless

I really have nothing to say today! Really!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Today's Inspiration...

...comes from this song. Not sure why I am drawn to this song. I am not religious, never was and never will be (no offense to anyone), but I do go to church occasionally (and compared to the church I grew up with the one I attend feels like Disneyland - so thank you for making it fun!!) and some of my close friends do go to church and I am fine with that and they are hopefully fine with my view on life and all. I don't judge and I accept them and everyone else for who they are and what they believe in, whether or not it collides with my beliefs and views. What I'm trying to say here I often find myself listening to religious songs, mainly because the melody is awesome, or something else attracts me in that moment. Same goes for this song. Most of my music inspiration I get mainly from the radio stations (and then combine that song with the area and mood I am currently in) and movies and TV shows. I know I found this song from a show but really, my brain is fried with all kinds of weird stories and theories and all that I cannot remember when and where I found this particular song. Nonetheless, here I am writing about it.

In a nutshell, I love this song.
It's my inspiration these days.
It makes me feel whole.
It makes me want to sip on hot chocolate with marshmallows and wear my fluffy socks and just sit next to the window and look out.
It creates a sort of happiness in me.
Does this make any sense?
I hope so.

Hope you had a wonderful day!

Lyrics say it all

It has been a while that I shared my love for music with you all. Music is inspirational, and it is okay not to like certain songs, and certain bands or singers. It is very okay. Sometimes it is even better that way. The music world would be incredibly boring if we all listened to the same songs.
Sometimes I get inspired by just one song, or one specific song speaks to me in an intense way because it literally describes where I stand in life, or where I'm heading towards. Sometimes songs remind me of good old times, sad moments in life, or of someone special. The following two simply describe me and my thoughts... ...I had to sit down and carefully listen to every word and right now, these words are so perfect I cannot find another word describing life at this very moment any better.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, Have I got it?
'Cause Mirror you've always told me who I am
I'm finding it's not easy to be perfect
So sorry you won't define me
Sorry you don't own me

Who are you to tell me
That I'm less than what I should be?
Who are you? Who are you?
I don't need to listen
To the list of things I should do
I won't try, I won't try
...

Another day in this carnival of souls
Another night settles in as quickly as it goes
The memories of shadows, ink on the page
And I can't seem to find my way home

And it's almost like
Your heaven's trying everything
Your heaven's trying everything
To keep me out

All the places I've been and things I've seen
A million stories that made up a million shattered dreams
The faces of people I'll never see again
And I can't seem to find my way home
...

I get most of my music inspirations from TV shows.
Some shows bring the best music at the very end of an episode...and it's always so terribly good! ;)

Where do you get yours from?

Hope you get inspired today!

A lonely winter morning

Exactly one year ago I was walking through the streets of Philadelphia.
Literally.
It was cold, it was snowing, it was all so very new, and I loved it.
If I go back in time, and look at the date (and in my diary) I would know that I would have actually been at someone's home attending a Pampered Chef Party. I was still jet lagged and it was funny just sitting around and listening to everything. I was not really there yet...my head and body thought I was nuts being awake cooking something and all. It was a Sunday evening. And yes, I remember it was snowing. Beautifully.
Though, if it really was Monday...and not Jan. 18, I would have been walking through Philadelphia. :)

Can't believe it's now really one year...time sure flies.
I'm listening to my music on iTunes and guess what song's just playing?!
Goodbye Philadelphia by Peter Cincotti. *obvioulsy why I write about the city*
I love this song. A. Lot.
Some would say it's rather a sad one, and it maybe is...but it's also quite inspirational.
So, there you go...it's my Monday evening inspiration!!!!

I never thought I would like Philly. Really. But I did. It will never ever top my favorite city in the whole wide world, but it's still a place I would love to return to again, and again. Maybe even this April. Haven't fully decided yet. I'm sure my friend would slap me for writing this but I can't decide. I should. Soon. I think this is one of those many negative things a born Gemini has to live with...haha!!!! I simply can't make up my mind which has made my life not a very easy one sometimes. ;-)

So, let's hope I do decide soon. Plane tickets are cheaper than ever before. And, well, as much as I would love to visit family and friends in southern California, I think this spring I'm going to pass and try something new. Does this make me a bad person?

Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.

Have a brilliant day/night!

One more day, and I can enjoy my weekend. ;-) Yay!!!!
Plans?! None. Just sleep in every day, and maybe go shopping (ha, I wish), and well...sleep...oh I wrote that already...and well, bake (hopefully), and sleep!

Morning Music

Woke up early, getting ready and all...and I am not in the mood to even get dressed today but I have to. I'm going to this birthday brunch party and I'm being picked up in less than one hour. Grrrr...however, music is always something that keeps me going. Certain songs remind me of certain good (or bad, or sad) times, and make my world more colorful. I think this is a very good thing. Either way, this morning, well, now actually...I feel like going back to bed. Then, turning the radio on my boys are singing....that was pure morning inspiration. Posted something a while ago about these Germans and will now post something else.
Hello morning music inspiration!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!

Smile

My shopping day was a success. I didn't get all I wanted. As mentioned in my earlier blog entry I knew that I wouldn't get everything and basically end up with something I don't really need. As predicted I ended up with two (and thankfully not three) new books. I got a 20% discount on each book by presenting my bookstore card which had never happened before. I was thrilled. And, I got a couple of tops or blouses, and well...that is it. However, I think the day was a success. Lunch was beyond delicious, and our waiter was just so very perfect (besides his good looks), the weather was a bit off with gusty winds and some rain showers from time to time but other than that the day was great!!!! Kudos to that shopping idea!

Today was a regular day filled with work, computer problems, annoying stuff to deal with and well, my not-so-liked co-worker's return. So far so good. I found out, thanks to our lovely and cute computer guy Mr B., that our little ridiculously annoying computer problem was caused by some unnecessary software installation. The only person that does such things is that particular co-worker. I do touch computers and do update but I don't install stuff just because I think it's important and a must-have. I do install it when I'm asked to by an expert and she's far away from being one. It's not the first time and I just knew when Mr B. told me that a weird installation was done on our main computer that it was she that did it. Oh, how grammatically correct of me, or should I say I?! Either way, everything's solved now and our problems are gone. As I said...so far so good...you never know what happens and what crazy idea she comes up with next. Until then my motto/theme is SMILE.

I loved this song while watching My Girl 2, and since Tuesday I can't get it out of my head.

...an unforgettable song, no matter who sings it.

Dreaming

There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
And she's buying a stairway to heaven....

Know this song? I'm sure you do and if you don't I'm sure you are just not familiar with its lyrics.
The reason I picked this song is that our local radio station played it a minute ago and while I feel like living an absurd dream or being part of one, the song made me dream and escape reality...even just for a few minutes.
It was a good dream; one I needed.

Have you ever felt tired in your life? I'm sure you have, but have you ever felt tired like really tired so your eyes literally closed and you half way didn't really care if someone saw it or not? Not in school or so but mainly at work? Unfortunately this has happened to me. I feel ashamed. This has never ever happened before. I won't allow it to happen again. Though it sort of did. For once though the computer I'm working with and the programs did not really work well and the screen always froze on me for about five minutes which made working even worse. You want to work and finish up your stuff and go on to the next but what if you can't work as fast as you want because your device is slowing you down? Yes, this happened to me. So, trying to finish something that takes some time anyways and needs to be precise and all... I ended up working on it for over 4 hours. Normally it takes 30 minutes, max. one hour. My eyes still hurt, and my head was, heck, still is exploding. Not to mention that this unspeakable and unthinkable happened...my eyes giving up on me and closing without my permission. I'm still ashamed. No one saw anything and the triple shots of espresso I got before, while and after all that writing sadly didn't help as much. I feel worse now. Maybe it's guilt that's now haunting me just because I had no power over my misbehaving eyes. Maybe. Either way I could escape for a few minutes listening to Led Zeppelin's song.
Dreaming always helps...writing does too.

Happy Weekend everyone.
Hope you're having great days ahead of you!!!
