Packing

Today I realized I am having way too many clothes. In fact, way too many that I wish to take with me and that hold a place in my heart or make me feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, sometimes, we change. Life changes and with that our taste and what we like/dislike. As I am packing my suitcases again I am also slowly throwing things out. My closet feels already lighter, but not light enough. I am holding onto too many things.

What is your best way to get rid of clutter/clothes/shoes/bags/whatnot?

I used to look at clothes that way: If I did not wear it for a year, or haven't even considered touching it or trying on it's time to let go off that item. If I did not wear it for a year I am certainly not gonna wear it now or in a year either and it just takes up space in my European closet.

One of my suitcases is already stuffed. Hmmmm....a second one will follow. This is going to be awful. Very very awful. Although I should be used to this kind of traveling by now I think I never fully learn my lesson.

Help.

"Weekend Update"

Since I am on summer break and in Europe every day feels like the weekend. If you know what I mean. But, and I have to be honest here, I have been bored and my weekends have not really looked exciting. You may wanted to see trip updates from when I went to Paris, or Munich, or Berlin or Rome or Zurich. Unfortunately, I did not go to these places this summer. Oh, except Zurich. But really, my summer's been boring to say the least. And no, it's not been glamorous just because I have been to Europe. Sadly. But well, then again, just being on another continent is exciting enough sometimes. ;)
And to lift my little bored spirit and to change my dramatic tone I decided I would update you with a few photos I took last week when I felt it was fun to take out my iPhone and snap a few pictures either in my favorite cafe or outside while sipping on my ice tea.

This is what I call awesome croissants and a phenomenal milk coffee.
I also spent a fortune of all of that, but it was worth it.

Thursday I decided it was time to go out and explore a little home again.
Part of my family lives outside the city and I felt it was time to see some of that again.
Didn't see the family, but enjoyed another mall, different air, and perfect views of the lake, the boat, and simple Swiss life. Loved it.

Beautiful clouds before the storm hit us. And by storm I mean four to ten gigantic raindrops and that was it.

On Sunday I went up to our mountains...it was a bit foggy that day. And rainy.
Almost felt like back in San Francisco...except when I saw the cows and goats.
Hehe!

I am linking up here. You should, too.

How was your weekend???
Hope Monday is an awesome day for you.
It was for me, but now it's slowly going to get bittersweet....can time please slow down??

My Make-Up Routine

I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. Soon I'm going to be in California again.
I am going to leave with mixed feelings. But, I'm going to be okay, as always.
I am going to embrace anything and anyone that will cross my path while I am still over here in my hometown. Then I am going to embrace all the fun and exciting moments I'll be experiencing while in sunny California. I cannot wait to see friends and family again, and I plan some get-togethers while I am there too. I am not a huge planner but some things need to be planned...and since I want to see and do some things I better get started. My summer failed (yes, failed, you read right. Even though I am in Europe doesn't mean I've been having a super dooper greater than great summer - let's just say I was bored 97% of the time and felt alone and unwanted most of the time, too!).
Since my summer failed, I am hoping fall and winter will be better? Hopefully.
So I had to come up with some uplifting thing today...for me, maybe for you too:

My almost daily fake routine. Yes. There I said it. Not really fake, but still. I put make-up on, and I do it pretty much on a regular basis, pretty much with similar colors and brands but most importantly, I am never changing my routine. First comes the moisture, then the liquid foundation, then the pressed foundation etc, etc. Sometimes I add more, usually I add less. Sometimes I add a liner, but usually I end up not having enough time or enough patience. But here's what I somewhat normally use:

Morning Routine

1. Clinique Moisture Surge & Aveeno Facial Protection
2. Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Liquid Makeup
3. Physicians Formula Talc Free Mineral Wear
4. Physicians Formula Multi-Colored Powder Palette and Bronzer
5. Dr. Feelgood Complexion Balm & Too Faced Anti Crease Eye Shadow Primer
6. Sephora Collection Colorful Mono Eyeshadow
7. bareMinerals Eyecolor
8. Clinique High Impact Mascara
9. Sephora Collection Colorful Blush
10. Victoria Secret Lip Gloss

Do you have any special routine? Or a brand you cannot live without?
Mine is my mascara from Clinique, my lipgloss, and one of my moisturizer.
I once remembered that I had forgotten to put on mascara after I saw the doorman at Louis Vuitton with is eyeliner and mascara opening the door. (not that I went inside, but I passed by the store and happened to look into his mascara and eyeliner filled face).

Oh boy.

Happy Friday!

Hope you had a fantastic week! I cannot believe it's Friday already. Not that I care really, but this just brings me closer to leaving and it is going to be bittersweet. It is going to be alright too. I'm gonna see friends again and maybe just live life a little "better".

Today instead of a fashion related post I just felt I'd share one of my favorite songs with you. Some of you may know the song already, and if not, you are welcome. ;)
Even though I don't like the video clip it is fun to see that a music group like that comes up with a kitschy little video and a message that makes sense. A message that has been my guide for the past year, really!

I saw this Australian group live last year and wasn't disappointed. It's very different to what I normally listen to but diversity never hurt anyone.

Have fun, and enjoy your Friday and upcoming weekend!!!

Jessica Alba - Girl Crush

My girl crush this month is none other than Jessica Alba.
We have agreed on the fact that we are allowed to have girl crushes...right?

I also blame my girl crush this month on the fact that I had my hair cut last week and I hate it. It looks healthy and it isn't too short, but it is just so not following my instructions. My hair doesn't listen to me. That's it. So, I am desperately trying to make myself happy by looking at gorgeous hair and well, Jessica does have gorgeous hair.
I prefer her though as a brunette. Do you?

all photos via Pinterest

Yes, I really prefer her as a brunette.
What do you think?

Hope you are having a fabulous day.
I definitely am having a splendid one.

Let's Get Personal Here

The lovely Leeann over at Join The Gossip tagged me last week with this little facts and question game, and I just feel it's time I revealed a little more about myself. If you really knew me also happened last week, so yes, you see? I feel it is really time.

Have fun learning a bit more about me.

FACTS
1. I love history, and wish I could time travel just to experience it all.

2. I tore my right leg's ligaments when I was 15 and ever since have problems.

3. I haven't read a German book in years, even though German is my sort of first language.

4. When I was younger I had two guinea pigs: Jerry and Tomy. Couldn't call them Tom and Jerry.

5. From time to time I have dreams or even day dreams that do come true which then feels like a deja-vu kind of thing that usually creeps me out big time.

6. When I was two my family had to leave the country we lived in at that time because people threatened to kidnap me if we didn't.

7. I do not smoke.

8. I often have cold hands. I really wouldn't mind if I wore gloves all year round.

9. I am a family person through and through. That's also why it bugs me that my other relatives aren't.

10. As far as it looks like I might not stay in the US forever.

QUESTIONS
1. What is your profession?
Returning full-time college student who just felt she needed to escape the crazy work world. What was I thinking?????

2. How would you describe your style?
A mixture between European chic and Californian beach-hippie girl loving the big city life. I usually have an umbrella with me (not so often in SoCal though) and cannot live without flipflop/sandals, and a cute cardigan or scarf. Trendy or not, I want to feel comfortable and I want to be able to move around.

3. What one make-up product can you not live without?
Neutrogena Liquid Foundation

4. If you could be besties with one celebrity, who would it be?
Zooey Deschanel.

5. What is your dream vacation?
Australia and Brazil...and probably also South Africa and Fiji and most countries in Europe. A bit too much!! I love Europe and could never get enough of it. Its diversity amazes me; but that's coming from me the endless European and language/culture/history fanatic.

6. What magazines do you subscribe to
None. Trying to save money. I go online for that.

7. If you could have any special talent {that you don't currently have}, what would it be?
I want to be able to time travel. But let's be real here because time traveling is not going to happen...I'd like to play the piano super super well.

8. What is your favorite breakfast food?
One HUGE waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, and scrambled eggs on the side. Weird combo I know, but that's my favorite!!!

9. If you could do anything, what is your dream job?
Professional blogger. Or, event coordinator (not planner, it may be the same to most of you but it is not really the same job!!).

10. What is your guilty pleasure?
TV shows. Any show that makes me laugh, smile, cry, think, and keeps me entertained and wanting more. Also, Bounty, and Luxemburgerli also known as macarons.

Some of you might not wanna do this but I am going to tag you anyhow.
And if you feel you want to do this and aren't tagged...please go ahead and do it anyways.
I'm tagging Ashley from She's Come Undone, Marjan from Local Living in OC, Sierra from Ocean Dreams, Sam from The Married Couple and Lacey from Lacey in the City

*And if you want to read more I am guest posting today over at Crazy Random Happenstances while Amy is busy moving to a new place. Hop on over and say hello please!!!

Weekend Update

Happy Monday.
Hope your weekend was filled with lazy days, some fun and possibly uplifting news.

My weekend was a mixture of a lot of things.
Friday morning (to most of you American readers, it is Thursday night) I woke up to news I did not want to wake up to. We all have heard of the horrendous shooting in Colorado. Not much else needs to be said about that. Really.
So, Friday just started out great...really.
But I went shopping in Sweden...sort of.

Saturday...I spent a few hours with a friend, then hopped onto another meeting with another friend. I get all the town gossip from that second meeting. We were supposed to be meeting the day before after my trip to IKEA, but she had to cancel the meeting with me, and so we met Saturday afternoon. I am not a gossip person but I love to get updated on who is dating who, who is divorcing who, who is sick, and who got kicked out of a club, or has just opened a new one and all that. I always feel catapulted back to being 18 all over again. And I am certainly not 18 anymore. Thankgoodness.

Saturday evening I stayed home in my jammies and did not go to the Blue Balls Festival here in Luzern. It was cold and it was raining...not the best time to go out. A glass or two of red wine, occasional games on the phone, a weird TV show and a book on my lap...that's what my Saturday evening looked like. Pathetic I know.

Sunday...well, Sunday I wanted to stay home in my jammies (again, I know!!!), not worry about how I look or how I smell (hahaha) and just stay in bed, relax and get rid of my shoulder ache. That certainly didn't happen. My friend called me and asked me if I had any plans. I told her what my plans were and she just said that I was silly and needed to get into the shower, and get ready because she was going to walk along the lake with me. That's what you do here on a sunny Sunday. The lake walk is tradition.
Apparently, my friend knows me too well, and so, I hopped into the shower, got ready, and met her later that afternoon for a long stroll along the lake.
And well, my friend brought her entourage too. Four kids and a hubby. :)

H&M has cute socks...I know that because I bought these.

Later that day I met a few other friends and we ended up enjoying the Blue Balls Festival with great food, drinks and obviously music. It is always fun to attend such a festival because literally, you bump into people you haven't seen in months and for me that would be twelve months...wow. It's kindergarten, elementary and high school reunion in one.
Unfortunately, our mood was killed by two fire trucks and two additional vehicles driving through the mass of people. Wondering what happened? Not the best thing...gas explosion that injured five people. They have food stands all over and one of them out of nowhere just went nowhere and dissolved itself. That stand is gone and the people there injured and in the hospital. Luckily, nothing more happened. It didn't fully explode, but could have gotten worse and who knows what could have happened.
So we had to enjoy the moment and cool our moods with some panaché (beer and sprite mixed!!).

That pretty much sums up my weekend.
Now it's Monday...and I think I just stay home and do what I wanted to do yesterday.

I'm linking up with Leeann, Sami and Dana for their Weekend Update blog hop.

How was your weekend???
Join the link up, or just tell me...hehe.

Friday's Fancies: European Style

Happy Friday Lovelies!!!
Any fun plans for this weekend?

Since I already started to be a little more into fashion this week I am linking up with Long Distance Loving again for Friday's Fancies. This week's theme is called "Euro Trip", and should or could possibly be an outfit we'd be wearing walking through our favorite European city.
As I just happen to be in Europe this is going to be a lot of fun. I could add up to 456 outfits, but won't. I'll probably stick to one, or maybe two because Europe is too gorgeous and so fascinating when it comes to fashion...it is such a perfect spot to get fashion-inspired. Have fun with my outfit(s).

Imagine a hot summer's day...somewhere in lovely Barcelona, or even in Palermo. Or hey, why not even in Paris or Istanbul or Berlin. It is hot and all you want is walk and let whatever air happens to come your way come your way so your dress slowly but welcoming-ly is flowing from left to right and back to left. You need a fun and bubbly drink, a view to look at, and just a very comfy, girlie but fun outfit. I think the following sums it up, no?
European Summer 2012

Have a brilliant day and an awesome weekend.
And don't forget to head on over and link up if you're playing along.

Let's Look At {Wedding} Dresses

It is July.

Even though I am far away from getting hitched (yes, let me just say this out load here on the blog!) it is obvious that friends and neighbors are getting married and that magazines all over the world literally smash wedding ideas and outfits into our faces.
I am not complaining.
I am just bringing this to a point.
It is what it is.
And July is a wedding month.
So, I thought I could just share a few items I think have me scream for a wedding myself.
Maybe.

Below the bridesmaid dresses...

 {all pictures, via Ruche and its Bridal Collection}

What do you think?
Yes?
No?

On Friday I shared what I would wear as a wedding guest, and today was quite the opposite.
My favorites?
The first and the last three wedding dresses, as well as the pink bridesmaid dress.
But ask me tomorrow and I may answer differently.

Have a brilliant day.

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday

Good morning!!

Today I feel lazy.
I blame it on the sun, and the fact that I could not really sleep well for the past few days.
So what more is there to do than participate in Michelle's weekly fun link up Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday. I haven't done this in a while and thought it was time again.

Without further ado here are my favorite pins I found this week...

I so want to be walking on sand now.

The fact that I already have 22 purses at home to use doesn't stop me
from looking at new possible purchases

I always need moments to make some "awwww" or "cuuuuuuuuuutttttteeee" noises!!

Sometimes I just want to experience a little magic

And sometimes I just want a drink!

I want a ring, or two. Preferably looking as gorgeous as the one above

And the following statement just does not need any additional word.

Have a fantastic Wednesday!!!!

xoxo
