Reading Challenge 2016

Time has flown by this year it is unbelievable. It has flown by so fast I did not complete my reading challenge I had in mind for 2015. I love to read but when life hits you in the face unexpectedly you either read more or you stop. I stopped. I could not pick up a book; any book. I wasn't interested in the written word for a long time and this scared me. I had no desire to get lost in anything. The second I opened a book and decided to read it I paused for a few seconds and smiled, knowing I was doing the right thing and knowing I was feeling better.

So with 2016 approaching I knew I needed change. It is not because a new year is about to begin. It is because I feel it is time to make a few changes in general. Life taught me a lot this year and one thing I know is to not wait for anything or anyone. 2016 will be filled with changes, and one will be my reading challenge.

A few weeks ago, Krysten mentioned on social media that she was going to ask her other half to choose books for her to read. To be honest, this thought scared me because my other half cannot stand reading at the moment and even if, we both have very different taste in literature. To challenge our relationship and my love for the written word I knew I had to try this as well. So, thank you Krysten for inspiring me to challenge myself and my books.

Here are the rules:

  • B solely chooses the books from my Goodreads list and/or from the shelf I mark as unread
  • I get six vetoes {though I doubt I will use them all, if any}
  • If I don't like the book and cannot make it halfway through I can stop reading it
  • If the book is part of a series and I like it I am allowed to read the next book in that series

I am excited about this. This will help me cross a few books off my online list, and it will allow me to discover genres I think I have no interest in {but we all know I do}. 2016 will be an interesting reading year for me. I am so ready!

Weekly Hopes {22}

Hope you had a marvelous Christmas time and are ready to say good-bye to this year and welcome the new one. I certainly am ready. 2015 wasn't my favorite. Every year has its ups and downs but this year had a lot more downs than usual. Losing my mom so early and so unexpectedly was certainly not on my list to see or experience. It is on no one's list. It took me by surprise, screwed up my summer {although I saw friends and family in Switzerland and Turkey again} and challenged me greatly. I have slowly learned to deal with this loss. I know I am nowhere near feeling awesome or as I was feeling before but I am feeling okay. That is one major step forward. This is all I need. One step at a time.

I stared this Weekly Hopes Series when I knew I had to change my outlook on everything. It helped me look forward to things and make plans. It helped me focus. It helped me live life. I will not discontinue this series as I see its great benefit. I don't know for how long I will continue this but so far it's been my hopeful corner of peace and tranquility.

So, with that being said...for this week and the rest of this year {wow!!!} I am hoping for a few very crucial things...let's have a look:

1 - Another helpful chiropractor appointment
2 - Movie Date with my man
3 -  A quiet, laid back New Year's Eve
4 -  Laughter, lots of laughter

How short is this wish list?!
I know I have an appointment today so I know this adjustment will be helpful again. Also, Tuesdays are movie days. Tickets are always cheaper and when you are off you better be taking advantage of that around here. We will spend NYE at home with our fur babies. We have a bottle of bubbly ready, and I have to figure out what to cook...appetizers are already thought of, just the main dish is unknown. Any suggestions?

And my last wish is so simple it shouldn't be on anyone's list but be a given...well, I have learned to let go and laugh. More so lately but it is still a process for me. So, if I can get any kind of laughter squeezed out of me I am in luck. Let's hope I find a few fun movies I haven't seen so I can laugh my butt off.

Are you ready to welcome 2016????
Any major plans, wishes and what not for this last week?!!

Tell me!

Merry Christmas From Me to You

I am celebrating Christmas with family and I am hoping for snow on Christmas Eve and Morning. So far so good. Our forecast predicted some tomorrow. Let's hope it will come true. With us being busy preparing dinner, dessert, breakfast, and fun memories I will be offline for the rest of this week. I hope you understand.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from my side of the world to your side of the world. However you celebrate {or not} I hope this week brings happiness to your homes and laughter to your loved ones.

xo

P.s. My Instagram will be filled with things I won't have time to share on here. So follow along. I am looking forward to seeing you there. Merry Christmas!

Weekly Hopes {21}

Happy Christmas week everyone! I know there are people out there not celebrating Christmas and this is very normal and very okay with me. In that case, have an amazing week and enjoy it to the fullest.

Lately, with everything going on in the world, I have come to the conclusion that I will raise my children {in the future, when it's happening} with an open-mind about religion, cultures, languages, love and life. I want my children to grow up the way I did; very very open-minded.

Easier said than done. You probably think that is a given. Technically yes, but when I hear people, read stories, and talk to people and understand that some have no idea about certain cultures, religions, and ways of living it saddens me. You don't need to know everything but have a general {true} idea and don't judge right away. Hey, I'm not perfect either. At least I know what Christmas is, Hanukkah, and even know what Islam is about. I will not get political here but all I need to say is that what the media presents {the views, the bad people, the everything we don't want to see} ruins anything and anyone. It is not the media's fault. It is the people who are uneducated believing in others who point fingers and tear any religion apart that does not need tearing. Stop it. Just stop it.

So, without getting too much into this negative crap, hee's what I am looking froward to this week

1 - Family Time
2 - Christmas lights in neighborhoods
3 - Snow
4 - Tiramisu
5 - Christmas music
6 - Doggie kisses
7 - Cat snuggles
8 - Hot spiked cider

It's my happy week. I lost it a few times yesterday, mainly because certain things remind me of my mom and the good old times. I am making new memories, and creating new stories so that the old ones can remain but will not take over my current happiness. I'm trying really hard. Plus, yes, I know the first few holidays will be the tougher ones...let me just wallow a little. I will be fine. Drinking my hot cider right now already makes up for all the crying yesterday. ;)

Have a fantastic week and hopefully there are a few things on your weekly list that will make you smile! :)

Currently {3}

Thinking about: How happy I am that this semester is finally over. I didn't go to school but my man did. He should have been out of school years ago but they keep adding classes or canceling them, it just takes forever. Plus, this semester he also took over some stupid night shifts {they are over} and I would be lying if I said it did not put a strain on our relationship. We are okay. It was just one hard test for both of us to pass. For the past two months we saw each other about ten minutes per day. That is it. When he was off he slept until one or two in the afternoon.
So, I am incredibly happy that this time is finally over...and my happiness is one heck of a thing to think about. :)

Listening to: Christmas music. It makes me happy and also a little sad. What can I say? It's the holidays...they always make me melancholic and sentimental. This year more than ever before.

Watching: Luna and Lilee wrestle with one another while I sip my steaming hot coffee. Sibling love is the cutest. Yes, it's love. Their play is fun and not at all aggressive.

Reading: House Rules by Jodi Picoult and a bunch of magazines I found at home I know I want to read and toss afterwards.

Loving: That B is done with school for this semester. He's worked really hard to get to where he wants to go and even though his school gives him a few obstacles he has managed these challenges quite well. No more school means no more stress, homework, projects, and no more drama in general.

Planning: Our trip to see family in Northern Nevada. Traveling with kittens is no problem for me but it still requires planning. It is like traveling with children of any age minus the extra clothes in case of an "accident". I'm writing a list of what to bring, and technically of what we can get in Nevada. I want to avoid extra trips to the pet store or any other store so I usually bring everything with me. Haha.

What are you currently up to?!

Gift Ideas for the Hostess #4

We are approaching the happiest time of year pretty soon my lovely readers. It is next week. It may be the 16th today but next week is when Christmas knocks on most of our doors. If you are still invited to a holiday party, or your mom decides to invite the whole neighborhood so you can meet Mr Right {you never know...}, then don't forget to bring something with you when you attend as a sign of appreciation and a thank you. After all, you aren't going just to eat and drink, right?!

Untitled #124

Love the decanter {can you tell I love wine?!}, the chalkboard, the NYC coasters, and yes, even the lip balm set. You cannot go wrong with any of these. Even just a nail polish can make anyone's day. Plus, even if you are not invited to any party but you are attending a family dinner this holiday season you can still bring your mom, your dad, your siblings, aunt, grandparents, or even in-laws something. Look at it as a special holiday present; just showing your gratitude and happiness to be part of that special event {whatever if may be}.

Have an amazing day my lovely readers.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

This season is my favorite. Winter may not be my best friend but the holiday season itself makes my heart warm and fuzzy. I don't see it as stressful. I see it as a time to wrap up a year; a time to come together and cherish each other; a time to feel at ease; a time to feel cozy and bundle up; a time to drink warm drinks and not get hot flashes; a time to feel elegant and a time to not only receive but to give back!

November and December both make me more creative. The Internet is full of unique ideas; ideas to make this time of year more festive, more cute, and more wonderful. To get a glimpse of what made my heart melt this holiday season and what got my mind going to enlighten our home I am sharing with you photos I put together on my Pinterest boards.

The bridge above is in my hometown. I love this bridge. I love that they have put it back up again this year. Several of my friends took photos of it and shared it with me so I know my city is glowing once more with this beautifully decorated bridge.

Decorative pillows are my favorite thing this season. They brighten up any couch, and add a festive touch to the home. Wreaths and anything with red makes my heart very happy as well.

Writing on windows is my favorite thing to do during the winter season. The windows need a wash anyways, so why not have fun with them? I am huge on candles. Unfortunately, with two kittens in the house we have to be careful but so far so good. They love the Christmas tree, the lights, and do not seem to be bothered or irritated by them. My happy holiday time did not get ruined.

Have you gone out and about this holiday season?
Did you start something new or stick to the old items you had on hand?!
Whatever you chose to do I am sure if looks fabulous.

Have an amazing day. Go out and smile.
After all it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Weekly Hopes {20}

Ten more days and Christmas is knocking on our doors. I am ready. Yes. Today I can finally say that I am ready for the holidays. I wasn't a few days ago but today I know I am. If I missed one or two people and did not write a Christmas card or send a gift to, I can still do so after the holidays. New Year's presents and greetings are always appreciated as well. With Christmas so close by I am extremely thankful for many things but mainly for staying sane and for not freaking out as much as thought I would. With this beautiful sign my weekly hopes this week include

1 - Chiropractor appointment
2 - Wearing my new StitchFix outfit I received over the weekend {so stoked}
3 - Finals will be done by Wednesday
4 - Packing for a few days in Northern Nevada
5 - Christmas movies
6 - Cleaning out our fridge
7 - Snow

Yes, California has snow. Real snow. Fake one, too. I am looking forward to seeing and feeling real snow. A snowball fight on Christmas morning would be fantastic. Maybe we are lucky this year. Last year we were very close. We had a bunch of snow flurries but that was it then. Fingers crossed we get some snowy fun on Christmas morning. I hope we do.

What is on your list this week?

Happy Friday List

Happy Friday!

This week, on the blog, has been all about this holiday season; possible gift ideas for your friends, hostesses, guys, and what not. I am still looking for a perfect holiday sweater. Help!
Today I want to share with you what made me happy this week. It is my Happy Friday List. Not everything I do revolves around gift shopping although let's be honest it is fun once you know what you are looking for.

Without further ado here's my Happy List for this week. And, like every time I share this I am linking up with Krysten and Lindsay for their link-up. Have fun and join the party!

1. Rain
2. Holiday inspired nail polish
3. Cuddle time with the fur ladies
4. My man's new and normal schedule
5. Criminal Minds
6. Thieves everything
7. Jacuzzi time
8. Wine
9. Quality
10. My new Kate Spade bag

What made you happy this week?
Hope it was a great week! I am ready for the weekend. Why?! Well, I'll be working mostly which I am not ready for to be honest, but it makes me happy to know I have things to look forward to. Can you believe that in two weeks Christmas will be practically over?! I can't. At all.

Happy Friday!

Gift Ideas for the Hostess #3

It's another week closer to Christmas and another possibility to get invited to yet another party. There was once a year where I was invited to at least five parties in two weeks. Plus, the invites came pretty much three days before the event. Either people got really spontaneous or they just forgot to invite me, OR they heard my gifts were amazing so they decided to host a party! HA!

It is not easy to find the right gift for anyone. If you don't know the host or hostess it is even harder. In that case I would go with the easiest: flower, chocolate, or {best one} a bottle of good red wine. When you know the host or hostess you can cater towards their hobby, style, or likes. One of my friends is a huge Italian food lover. She threw an early holiday/birthday/house warming party and I knew I was going to get her a big basket of lots of Italian goodies. I found this amazing store that only sells specialties from Italy...it got pricey but it was so worth it. I did combine all three events in one basket, so in a way it wasn't that pricey after all. :)

Untitled #123

Look at these beauties.You can never go wrong with a holiday inspired ornament, or a cheese/meat board. Look at this cure and fuzzy throw {sold out unfortunately}, and the sparkly decanter. There are so many options. No need to go all fancy. Again, it depends on who invites you and what you know about the person. Now, excuse myself while I am headed over to Nordstrom's to get those copper mugs

Can you believe we are almost hitting mid-month?! Unbelievable. Are you done with holiday gift shopping, or are you getting mostly stuff done now or last minute?! There is nothing wrong with that. I once experienced first hand that last minute presents can be in fact better and more fun than early bought presents. :)

More ideas can be found here and here

Have an amazing day!!!

Holiday Sweater Inspiration

Colder and windier temperatures mean one thing. Sweater Weather!
I own a few sweaters but nothing as cute as what I found. In comparison mine are boring. Mine are not even holiday or winter related. I should add one to my collection with a cute reindeer or polar bear. How cute would I look? Bangs, and a cute little sweater with a white bear on it?! I'd be looking maybe 16 but I will take it.

Untitled #119

I seriously need a cute reindeer sweater that keeps me warm in these Northern California winter. Believe it or not it does rain here and it also snows. How about a colorful, fully winter-inspired sweater? Or a snowman? So cute. Also, an elegant sweater that will even go well when invited to a half-casual holiday party? Or just sparkle all the way because you are a girl. There are so many options to choose from it is amazing. Off I go searching for the right one keeping me entertained and warm this time of year. I have a feeling January and February will be colder and gross, so I better get prepared.

Are you a sweater person?
I wasn't until it got cold here in California. I miss my old home when it was 75 degrees in December. Yet, I am not complaining. I like where I live and I am happy. That is all that counts, right?!

Weekly Hopes {19}

Happy Monday.
Is it me or does time really fly by these days?! I am so not ready for the holidays. I am ready as far as presents go, but I am behind decorating which leads me to just ignore it all together and not even think further. However, I know and always preach that we should live life to the fullest and not say we would do something some day. Some day may not exist, may never ever happen. Instead of putting it off, whatever it may be, we should do it. NOW. Not tomorrow or some day. This also goes for my wreath. Still have none. This brings me to my Weekly Hopes Series.

This week I am looking forward to accomplishing or experiencing....

1 - Sending two Christmas packages away {yes, I didn't do it last week...oops}
2 - Going to two Catholic churches and lighting two candles
3 - Rain
4 - Getting a massage
5 - Back to regular schedules {YES}
6 - Putting a wreath up. A must!
7 - More quality time with my favorite person

This time of year always forces me to look back at what the past 11 1/2 months have taught and given me. I have to say that 2015 was not my favorite year. It started out beautifully with a lot to look forward to and a lot to be thankful for. All this got halted abruptly when bad news hit me and I lost my mom unexpectedly. It is a void. It hurts. I wasn't ready for this to happen so early, and I know there are a lot of you out there that understand that feeling. This feeling teaches you a lot. It pushes you to a different level of disturbed, confused, lost, and mad. I have jumped over this dark hole and am regaining happiness, regaining the will to go out and do something. 2015 will end beautifully, and I know 2016 will start fresh, colorful, and happy. So, looking back at these past 11 1/2 months all I want is quality time with my favorite person. All I want is happiness. Every single day. All I want is to live life, experience things, see places, enjoy everything...even if it is a dust ball rolling out of my dryer and the cat chasing it...whatever it is, I want to embrace it and love the moment.

What are you looking forward to this week?!

My Daily Routine

For weeks I thought it was time to share how my usually very boring day looks like. Most of us have a job or children or both. Some of us have neither and still manage to have a busy schedule ahead of them. For me it is a mixture of all three. And because I think it's important to note that everyone's life is different, I think it's equally important to see it in writing to make it believable, to make it real.

I don't have a set routine. Most days are very similar yet can differ drastically depending on plans, events, and what not. You know, life happens. :)

Here's what I was up to today:
  • 4 am - wake up call by Lilee and Luna. Both decided it was time to snuggle with me. No idea why they choose to do this at that hour. It's a trend they have recently started. Working on getting this stopped or postponed to maybe 6?
  • 5.20 am - my man came home from work. I woke up once more. Tried to go back to sleep for an extra ten minutes. Failed of course.
  • 5.30 am - alarm went off. I hit the snooze button only to turn it off two minutes later.
  • 5.30 am - 5.45am - shower, dress, and prep time
  • 5.50 am - brew coffee and got my cereal bowl and fruit ready. Turned on the news.
  • 6 am - feeding time.
  • 6.30 am - 6.45 am - left for school, although I think we left around 6.55 am. Oops.
  • 7.30 - 8 am - arrived at school, found parking, and relaxed. It always depends on traffic when we arrive. Today it took us over an hour.
  •  until 8.30 am - relaxed in the car by checking emails, social media and the news once again.
  • 8.30 am - 1.30pm - stayed on campus, read, took notes, waited, and talked.
  • 1.30 pm - met up with my favorite person, drove home.
  • 2.15 pm - got some gas, stopped by Sprouts, went home and made late lunch
  • 3 pm - my man went to bed. Literally. I turned on the news, turned on my computer, worked.
  • 5.15 pm - feeding time. The fur children were hungry.
  • 5.30 pm - research, and small work stuff online until my man wakes up
  • 6 pm - prepped dinner and play time with the fur babies
  • 6.30 pm - clean, work, clean, work, clean again?!

    Planned ahead as of right now...
  • 8 pm - Dinner time, finallllllly!
  • 8.30 - 10.30pm - TV time with Christmas lights on
  • Shortly after 10.30pm - bed time. Good night!
  • No school tomorrow...just a wake up call at 4 am I am sure of it

This is more or less a typical day for me. I work from home (nothing major but at least it's something as for now) and it keeps me distracted. Also, yes my man has awkward work hours. They will be over by tomorrow!!! Having him come home so early in the morning and then having to go to school is draining. I am glad I drive him to university. No one wants a sleepy guy behind the wheel. I am exhausted. My daily routine is boring I know...but it could also be worse.

If you were wondering what's for dinner?
Tonight it's simple...white rice, mixed fall/winter veggies {hello brussels' sprouts and chestnuts}, and salmon with a curry crust. Cannot wait to eat it. Most of it is prepped already, all I have to do work on is the salmon which won't be too hard. This also reminds me to get back into my recipe posting. I have neglected it for many reasons, and now I am ready to get back into trying yummy recipes and sharing my favorites with you. Stay tuned.

Gift Ideas for the Hostess #2

Another week, another idea for more gifts. This month is long and it should end with fun celebrations. Plus, to bring a gift has never been not accepted. At least I never heard of that.

Are you going to party your friend is hosting, your co-worker invited you to, or your mother wants you to attend so you can finally meet so-and-so?! Here are a few more ideas of what you can bring to make your hosts happy!!!

Untitled #122

How about the ornament? I love getting a new ornament each year. Or fun glassware? Or pour spouts, or a vase? How about a fun tea towels; they always brighten my day. So many things to bring your host, so many possibilities to brighter anyone's day this holiday season.

Missed the last round? Don't worry, I have you covered here. :)

Weekly Hopes {18)

How was your Thanksgiving???!!!
Mine? It was filled with family, support, laughter and love. I couldn't have asked for more. Plus, yes, my Thanksgiving pants were used for three days. I am a bit full to say the least. Where's the gym?!

We had a great holiday. Today is the last day of November. The last day!!!!!
24 or 25 days {depending on when you celebrate it} and Christmas knocks on our doors. Whether or not you celebrate it to me it is a warm time, a time to meet up with friends, family, a time to give, receive, and just enjoy the warmth of the season. Snuggling up with your fur babies, a fuzzy blanket, and twinkly lights in the background while watching a fun movie is my favorite way to relax and unwind. So this week I am happily looking forward to the following...

1 - My man's birthday
2 - My man's stupid schedule finally ends this week {Hallelujah!!}
3 - Warm drinks; maybe with marshmallows
4 - Christmas Lights in our neighborhood
5 - More Christmas music
6 - All Christmas gifts ready to be sent by the end of the week
7 - Finishing all Christmas cards
8 - Quite time
9 - Working out more
10 - Baking

What are you looking forward to?
Are you ready for tomorrow, December 1???
I am not. I am so in denial.

Gifts for Him

My man's birthday is coming up. Don't worry, I am ready and have some precious gifts for him. It was not easy as his birthday is twenty days before Christmas. I had the hardest time figuring out what to get him. It is not just the gift itself but the fact that three weeks later I would have to give him something else. Yes, I know, Christmas is not about the gifts at all. I know, I know. However, when your entire family makes you write a Christmas list you know you will receive something, so in return you feel compelled to do the same. Plus, we all love to open a few gifts either on the 24th or the 25th. It brings back childhood memories of some sorts.

Either way, guys are never really easy to get gifts for; mine certainly isn't. Yet, there's always something he needs or secretly wants. One of my friends give her favorite person nothing. She claims that having brought children into this world was her gift, forever. I don't know about that. He showers her with gifts, so I would at least think of one item I could make him happy for one day. Don't get me wrong, I love my friend, I just think it's odd.

Anyways, if you are having trouble finding something for you guy, last minute of course, maybe these simple items may spark an idea. I know mine will get a special T-shirt, shoes {well, we will go together shoe shopping...poor guy will be in trouble, or will it be me?!}, and a few items I know he will use and love. Here's to me finding more last minute gifts because yes, not only is his birthday coming up but Christmas, too.

Wish me luck!

Body Lotion by c.Booth

A few weeks ago I was sent a voucher to buy a c.Booth lotion and review it for testing purposes. I love Influenster and I am sure you have seen me review different products over the past four years from them. I have to admit that I don't always review on my blog. Reason is simple. If I like the product I will review it on the blog, but if I feel I don't like it or don't think it deserves a spot on the blog I will not.

C.Booth however, I think, deserves a spot.

Its "slogan" is simple. authentic. trusted.
I don't know c.Booth that well, but I can say it is definitely simple, and smells delicious. I chose to get the Vanilla Butter 4-1 Multi-Action Lotion and it is fantastic. The bottle is huge, and what comes out of it smells awesome. The 4-1 action includes exfoliation, hydration, nourishment, and firming. Cannot complain about it. The Vanilla flavor definitely adds to the holiday season and we all need some warmth during this season.
Honestly though, I have to use the entire bottle to tell you exactly how intrigued I am with this product. I have mentioned in a previous post that I am lazy in the morning and sadly often skip the very important act of putting lotion onto my precious skin. Needless to say I have used this multi-action lotion, I just have not used it enough. So far I can tell that it nourishes and hydrates. Maybe it is me but I also see a glow on my skin. Either way, so far this product has not disappointed. Also, yes, I took that photo in my bedroom, and yes I decided to use it before I go to bed as I may not be too lazy to put some yummy smelling lotion on.

Verdict: I would give this product 4 out of 5 stars. It lost a star because of its price and the fact that it will take me forever to finish this product. I don't like throwing away unfinished products. It will take me months to finish this; maybe one year.

I found my bottle at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Ulta sells it, too.

Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Gift Ideas for the Hostess

With the holidays around the corner there is a chance that we get invited to a party or two. Whether it is one held by your work, your best friend, your parents, or a friend of a friend you will be a guest. I was taught to always bring a gift to the host or/and hostess. It doesn't have to be anything special; something small, like a cute napkin, flowers, or a bottle of your favorite wine would do the trick. It shows your appreciation to the hosts and once you are the one giving a party you would probably want something cute in return as well. I definitely say never no.

Untitled #121

I'd definitely say yes to the pillows, an ornament, candles and any bottle of wine. Depending on the event I have seen people being very creative with their gifts. I love the fall-winter coasters, and unfortunately it is something I don't see people use as often anymore. Maybe I am hanging out with the wrong crowds? Coasters are so much fun! I brought once a unique bottle holder to an event and it was the best gift that evening; that is if you know the hosts and their love for wine. ;)

Are you invited to a holiday party, a get-together of some sorts this time of year!? If so, and you are not sure what to bring, don't feel overwhelmed. Sometimes simpler is better.

Happy early Thanksgiving my lovely readers!!!
Whether or not you are celebrating know that I am very thankful for you!

Weekly Hopes {17}

Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Whether or not you celebrate Thanksgiving there is always a time when you should reflect back and be thankful. This week is all about happiness, family, and being grateful to be alive, surrounded by my new family supporting me during my dark times {I see a light at the end of this tunnel}, and to be loved by my friends {they all live so far away from me; yes, I have no friends in this city and by that I mean zero!} and remaining family. It's a great week and a great time to be thankful for so many things. Plus, there is always something one {ehhhmmm, me} can be hoping or wishing for.

This week I am hoping....

1. that it won't snow when we travel to see family
2. to enjoy fabulous foooooood
3. to rest and enjoy a great Thanksgiving
4. no stress
5. movie time
6. Therapy

It's a small list but so worth it. This week will be short. My man has only one class to attend, so we will prepare ourselves and the fur ladies to be ready for turkey day {yes, we will starve ourselves}. If you visit family or friends this week and have to travel far, please be careful, don't stress out, and enjoy the time you spend with your loved ones. Cherish the food, the drinks, the stories, and if it happens...the drama.

Happy Thanksgiving Week my lovely readers!!!

Friday Happy

Happy Friday.
I am finally back with a few updates. I have been slacking lately. Blame it on the upcoming holiday season, on my head and throat not wanting to cooperate, and the fact that two little kittens want momma's attention; preferably at 4am. I still need that sleep I was dreaming and hoping about. It's been a rough month. Yet, with a rough month and week there is always something to be happy about. Let's see what makes me smile!

1. Getting home in one piece on Sunday
{we got stuck in a snow storm while driving home from the in-laws...no worries, we were prepared}
2.  Snuggles with Lilee. She's become more affectionate lately. Love it.
3. Hot chocolate with marshmallows
4. Christmas decoration
5. Cleaning my closet
6. Ordering most presents for my loved ones
7. Etsy
8. Oil Classes I have been attending
9. Date Night
10. Blackberry apple crisp

It's been a good week. Let's make next week even better and filled with love and lots of laughter!

 I am again linking up with the fabulous Krysten and Lindsay today. Come and join the fun! :)

Cool - Gray

With the holidays approaching faster than usual {is it just me or what?} I am always looking for winter inspired colors. Red and green are the most obvious, gold and silver are also on the list. This year I am also looking at gray. It's cool, calm, and combines well with stronger colors like red, green, plum, and even black.

Untitled #117

For years I thought gray was a boring color. It reminded me of a mouse. I don't like mice. One day I saw a photo in a magazine (mind you, that has been about 12 years ago) and the photo showed a girl wearing gray and pink, and gray and turquoise. I was hooked onto gray ever since. I learned that gray by itself may look boring but when you add a color like pink, purple, turquoise, and even red it makes the color pop and so much more vibrant.

Is gray your color?
I am so glad I kept my gray nail polish. I will wear this next week for Thanksgiving. Add a bit of glitter or pink to the gray polish and baaaam you have yourself a bit of a festive touch to this cool color.

Have an amazing day!

Weekly Hopes {16}

Good morning my lovely readers,

I did not forget my Weekly Hopes post but simply couldn't get up and work on it. I had such a rough weekend it was rather impossible for me to sit down, focus, gather my thoughts, gather my emotions, and write coherently. However, to be honest, it is still Monday here so I am entitled to work on my happy hopes and wishes for this week. :)

This week I am hoping for....

1 - Wrapping the already bought gifts so they are ready
2 - Preparing my man's birthday and Christmas gifts {why are both in December?! why?!}
3 - Figuring out what to get my favorite man
4 - Going to Michael's and Hobby Lobby to get some more items for the holidays
5 - Cleaning and organizing
6 - Vet appointment scheduled for the ladies
7 - Job search {I'm slowly ready to get back to life and normality}

Yes, there's only seven things this week. Our weekend was horrendous. I mean we spent it with family but driving home was a major downer. Driving over a pass and through snow...instead of two hours it took us almost seven hours. Our car was a rental due to someone hitting ours and we had to repair it {their insurance paid it all...thanks to her note on our car}. So our rental as requested was a 4x4 and ready for snowy roads. We were so fortunate...just not riding for so long. ;( The kitties didn't like it either. Getting a doctor's appointment is close to impossible. I had to switch insurance providers, and well, new patients will get to schedule in January. I'm find with waiting but can I please make an appointment NOW? Apparently not. I think that's ridiculous. Anyways, it's been a good but looooong weekend. This week better be going smoothly, happily, and without any car drama. :)

Happy Monday my readers. Hope your day is going well!

Thinking about: How I should wrap all the Christmas presents we are arranging this year. Last year I went with a plain brown paper with purple polka dots {such a fun DIY project}, so this year I want to do something else. Pinterest better help me. :)

Listening to: Pandora. It's one of many Country Music Stations I happened to find on my man's list. He's the Pandora guy, I just listen to whatever I can sing along to. :)

Watching: The fur babies wrestling with each other and then grooming each other afterwards. It's like their afternoon treat ceremony. Ha. Also, I am catching up on shows today and will watch a Christmas movie. Exciting!

Reading: All kinds of magazines my MIL gave me to read, and a new book I just started.

Loving: The constant purrs I hear from Luna and Lilee. Love our snuggle time, and I love when they realize the spray bottle means they are in trouble. Haha! Plus, when I feel alone and sad and all that...knowing a kitty trusts me enough to sleep on me for hours...awwwww, it's the best feeling ever!

Planning: When we go see family in Reno I always want to do something different. I love resting and playing with the dogs {and now cats} but I want to explore the area as well. I found this great gluten free bakery. Their coffee cakes are delicious. I could eat there every single day. So yes, I am planning on checking a few newplaces out so next time we are in the area we can go explore! :)

Eating: Gluten Free Mini Pretzels from Snyder's of Hanover. This brings back so many childhood memories it's not even funny. I think this is my comfort food. I know, I know, not healthy but I am only human craving some comfort food at the moment.

What are you currently up to?!

Introducing...Luna and Lilee!

Good morning!

Let me start by finally introducing you to my new loves...Luna and Lilee.
Excuse the weird pillow in the background. That was the easiest to "pose" them for photos. Haha!
The story:
For months we wanted to make an addition to our home, our family. B grew up with dogs and cats so naturally to him something was missing at home. I always wanted to own a "real" pet. I grew up with guinea pigs and birds but let's be real...as cute as guinea pigs are, and as cute as birds may sing...they are not necessarily real pets. Loved my pets but I always wished for a cat or a dog. Mom was vehemently against it. No discussion.

Last year B and I started looking at possible adoption places. When we visited shelters or adoption centers we always felt relaxed and happier. It was a great way for us to unwind, forget about obstacles, stress, and all that crazy stuff going on in our lives. We knew that getting a pet would be a great responsibility and a long commitment. We never found the perfect match for us though.

Fast forward to end of April of this year...we got more serious and ready to move, and knew that with a move we may want to finally find a companion or two. Over the summer I was told not to get a pet at all {thanks mom} and when I returned and started struggling with stress, grief, and depression we knew that a visit to the shelter or an adoption center would lift my mood. It took a few tries for me to warm up to the idea but I knew that getting a new family member will enhance my life and make adjustment and eventually life much easier.

Fast forward to October 15. We visited the biggest shelter in the area we knew had the most kitten available. We also knew we wanted a black or a gray one that would literally come in a double pack. We found our match. However, it turned out they were sick. Turned out all of them were sick. It broke our heart. You want to rescue an animal and then it turns out sick and may not make it, and even if, it would require a lot of work, money and dedication. So we went home brokenhearted.

B was determined though. He was ready. I was ready. Over the weekend we found an adoption center that looked more promising. We found cute little ones, signed up, and got put on a waiting list. Apparently we weren't the only ones wanting the cutest kittens on this planet. Three days later we got a phone call saying we were on the top of the waiting list as people didn't want to adopt them together. We wanted to adopt them as a pair. Who tears siblings apart?!

Soooooo, that following Saturday we met the girls and fell in love. They even claimed us. Who can say no to healthy kittens claiming you as their own? Yup. We knew right there and then we shouldn't say no and say yes to getting these fluffy fur balls. Two hours later, B and I, Lilee and Luna drove home and introduced them to our home.

Lilee: This is her given name by the lady who found her. We thought the spelling was unique and the name fit her personality. So we kept the name.
She's slow to warm up, is a momma's girl {always near or on top of me, like in the photo below}, loves to sleep, loves to ambush her sister, and delicately eats her food. She makes funny noises, and chases the laser like a rock star! She's adopted well and knows how to hit the limit when it comes to being cute, especially when she hops on things she knows she is not supposed to. She hates the spray bottle and knows that she is in trouble if I just put it out.

Luna: Her given name was Kiki. I have a friend with that name and I know what it means in Tagalog so I decided to drop that name. We had Luna in mind...and even though she's not dark she's got this moon-like pattern and her face is slightly round {compared to her sister's}...so it fits.
She's very social and loves to cuddle as much as possible. She's the climber; climbed the second she saw the cat tree. She is a foody, and thinks every time I walk into the kitchen it's food time. She tells us when she's hungry; she's quite the opera singer. She has adopted well, loves to play with her sister and chase the laser as well. Mostly though she's the brave one trying to explore everything, including the stove since last weekend. Oh boy!

And she's photogenic!

They are, as of today, four months old, very healthy according to our vet, and happy!!!
Our fur babies are already well traveled and don't complain a bit in the car. Can't complain.

I am beyond happy. My mother instinct appeared out of nowhere. I definitely worry too much. I don't want to leave the house. I want to make sure they are okay. I know they are. They have each other and definitely entertain themselves whenever they get the opportunity. I am very glad we decided to add them to our little family. It has drastically changed my mood and my heart. I believe this has been the best decision of 2015!!

I promise this was the first and last major kitty post! I'm just so excited to have them in our life. It would be wrong not to share my enthusiasm. Besides, they are part of my life and my blog is about sharing and inspiring...so here I am, sharing with you our inspirational addition!

Luna and Lilee say hello, and wish you a wonderful rest of the week!

Weekly Hopes {15}

I cannot believe I took a whole week off from blogging. Honestly, I thought it was just a couple of days. Well, my lovely readers, life took over and I tried desperately to sleep as much as possible because I truly needed to rest my body and soul and rejuvenate. My skin looked dry, sad, old, pale, you name it...so I had to take care of that part. Also, life itself needed to be looked at more closely. I needed time to myself. We all know that me-time is important no matter how old we are. I had a good week, with the regular ups and down any life offers. I am ready to handle this {short} week. Are you?!

So this week I am ready to conquer with more energy, more happiness and more everything!

This week I am hoping for...

1 - More sleep {still, I need it}
2 - Three deliveries coming in
3 - An update on our couch as it has not been delivered yet {more on that later on}
4 - More snuggles with Luna and Lilee {they will be introduced soon, I promise}
5 - Rain, rain, rain
6 - My bi-weekly therapy session
7 - A trip to Reno
8 - Christmas shopping halfway done
9 - Gingerbread Latte
10 - Getting our car repaired

It's quite a list this week. I know I will be begging for sleep. My girls come in at 4.30 thinking it is time for breakfast...ehhhmmm, no! Stop kneading and purring next and on top of me. It's like having a super turbo charged car in bed. The trip to Reno should happen once again as there is no major storm in the near future coming our way, and #10 is definitely happening as we have our repair date scheduled for Tuesday. So stinking excited. Let's just say when you park at a college structure there is always a chance someone will hit your car and that badly. Lucky us, the driver left a note and apologized and her insurance is taking care of it all. :) Good things are happening, telling you.

What are you up to this week?! Any fun things you are excited about?
I'm just so glad I am back again.

And yes, as promised my fur ladies will be introduced soon. They deserve a spot on this blog too. :)
Happy Monday!

Weekly Hopes {14}

It's Monday again...so excited. Well, I'm only excited about it because I know we have about four more weeks left of B's crazy schedule. I cannot stand it at all. So with that in mind, and with caring for two kittens at the same time...I am hoping for one thing only this week:

SLEEP!

No need to say more. I need sleep. More sleep. Less disruptive sleep, less noise, less everything but MORE rest time - for both, B and me.

Hope you are having a fabulous day.
It's November and I cannot believe how that happened. Didn't we just celebrate Easter or complain about super temperatures?! Holy cow.

Promise Yourself

Promise yourself...

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

 Christian D. LarsonYour Forces and How to Use Them

Sometimes we need inspiration; to move on, to conquer a fear, to take the next step, or to even quit a habit. Books are inspirational. When you find a passage in a book that speaks to you and your current life it feels like a door full of opportunities opens itself up to you. This is what made me get up this week, and look at the positive side in life, cherish everything and not dwell in the past. This is what made me laugh. This made me nod, and look outside the box I am still trapped in. I love it. It fits and it certainly fits a Thursday morning!

Am I the only one finding passages or just a sentence or two in books inspirational?!
I love books, their stories and motivational lines. Cannot wait to start my next book.

Dry Skin and Lazy? No Problem...Curel Won't Disappoint

A couple of weeks ago I received a moisturizing spray and body wash by Curel Itch Defense. I have to admit I was running out of body lotion so this arrived at the best time. Also, I can be pretty lazy in the morning. Sometimes I just don't have the time to dry my body, put on lotion, wait, and then put my clothes on and start the day. I often skip the art of moisturizing my precious skin. I know it's not good but I am only human. It happens.

When I was sent this spray I was super stoked. Just dry your skin, spray on, rub/massage in and go. Perfect. Also, since it's Curel's Itch Defense it is made for extra dry skin that can itch. A change in season always means that our skin changes too. My skin is really dry in general so when it gets colder and dryer {although it's been super dry where we live...so it gets even worse} my skin is yelling at me. It hates me. It itches, and yes, I will scratch back.

Itch Defense by Curel has helped me keep up with my morning routine, and my hands away from scratching my skin. My skin has felt moisturized and healthier. It isn't greasy at all. Its scent is decent and not too overpowering. I prefer something that doesn't smell all day but keeps my skin happy. Also, combining the body wash and the lotion is a perfect way to start my day. I feel clean and my skin feels happy and healthy. I have tried a few lotions and most leave me either very greasy, or their scent evaporates fast or becomes smelly. No one wants that.

Verdict: I will give Curel Itch Defense five out of five points!!!! Easy to apply, leaves my skin moisturized all day and smells fresh rather than flowery overpowering. PLUS, my skin does not itch anymore. Total win.

If you are interested in receiving free products to test and review go check out Influenster. I signed up over three years ago and have not been disappointed once. It gives me a chance to test products that are catered towards my taste and my lifestyle. Love it.

Weekly Hopes {13}

Happy Monday my lovelies.
How was your weekend?! Mine? It was pretty fantastic.
Let's just say instead of going to a pumpkin patch we found our kitty match and adopted two cutie pies. Screw the pumpkins...the kitties are much cuter and last longer, too. I will miss our pumpkin carving time {although you never know...we may still go and pick two but I doubt it}, but I am very happy with our addition to our little family. Even though I am very happy with our two girlies, there are still a few things I am looking forward to this week...here it goes:

1 - Possible rain. California needs it.
2 - Doctor appointments...for me and the felines.
3 - A day trip to see the family in Nevada; with the kitties. They love to travel and have been back and forth to Southern California quite a lot...so happy about that.
4 - Meatloaf for dinner.
5 - Another much needed massage on Thursday.
6 - My StitchFix arrival...cannot wait to see what my stylist chose for me this time!
7 - Halloween decorations all over town.
8 - Hocus Pocus.
9 - SLEEP!!! No idea but I am exhausted.
10 - Getting our new couch!!! Finally!

This week will be fun. I can already tell. I have to send a few emails out, write and share reviews, and organize a few things but it will be a fun week. No exams for the hubs, no job drama, no stress...just a few appointments, a massage, fun neighborhoods, and a get together with family. It's going to be a great week. Plus, they say it may rain on Wednesday?! YES please. Also, when we go see the in-laws I can finally wear my fall boots...I have been waiting for this for so long. Pretty ridiculously long. :)

Hope your week starts out with beautifully as well.
Sending you some sunshine if you are tired of the rain...just send it to us here in dry-land California. Thank you in advance.

xoxo

P.s. More on our family addition soon....cannot wait to share some fun stuff with you all.
