4 Movies I'm Running to the Theater to See This Summer

Hey it's me, Sierra from Simply Sierra blog! Selma asked me to guest post while she's moving, so I told her I'd be happy to do it! ;) Lately I've been going to more movies than I usually do. This spring (and soon to be summer) has been packed full of fantastic flicks that I just had to see. So far two of my favorites have been The Longest Ride and Insurgent. Big surprise there, huh? ;) I still have to see Furious 7 which I have heard is a tear jerker because of the dedication to Paul. The nice part about this spring/summer is that there are still many awesome movies to come! I love it when finally there are some great movies to see. Here are 4 movies I'll be running to the theater to see. Will you?

1) Pitch Perfect 2

{via IMDB}

Release Date: May 15th

I love a movie where there is a lot of singing, and of course all of our favorite characters are back to sing, compete, and win our hearts with their incredible banter. This film stars three of my faves: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Hailee Steinfeld, and I can't wait to see them singing a new song or two!

2) Jurassic World

{via IMDB}

Release Date: June 12th

Can you believe that Jurassic Park originally opened in 1993? I can't and I still remember being totally in awe of this film as a little girl (yes my parents let me watch it when I was 10) and the magic it brought to the screen. I love a good action and thriller, and Jurassic Park brought it all. Starring Chris Pratt, a dinosaur tamer (good luck to him ha ha), I think this film will be magical. Of course the Indominus rex gets loose and all hell is going to break loose! I can't wait to see what happens.

3) Tomorrowland

{via IMDB}

Release Date: May 22nd

Tomorrowland is based off -- yes you guessed it -- Tomorrowland from Disneyland! I guess there isn't a lot about this film so far, other than it stars George Clooney, a reclusive inventor, Britt Robertson who plays Casey and gets to see the magical world, and Hugh Laurie, the dictator of this universe. I love everything Disney so of course I'll be headed to the theater to see this. With great actors and I'm sure a beautiful land, I really hope this film does well. Besides, it has 3 of my favorite actors!

4) Magic Mike XXL

{via EW.com}

Release Date: July 1st

Hello Channing Tatum! Who needs Vegas when you have Magic Mike? J/K, well, kind of. ;) I am guilty of watching these films just because it's sooo much fun watching them dance. Plus, who doesn't love Channing Tatum? Good thing his wife is okay sharing him with all of us, otherwise I don't think the film would be nearly as successful as it has been (besides Matt Mcconaughey who won't be in this flick). However I think Joe Manganiello will make up for Matt not gracing us with his presence. This time around they're headed to Myrtle Beach for an annual stripping convention. Big surprise there? ;) Let's have some fun and enjoy this film this summer!

So did I miss any films? What films will you be running to see?

Maleficent

{via}

This film officially starts tomorrow.
I'm going to watch it tonight at El Capitan in Hollywood.
It's part of my birthday celebrations, part of being a Disney-lover, and part of a girls' night out.

I cannot wait for tonight.

So excited to see it with my girls...and then start my official countdown to Sacramento and my birthday. Yikes!!!

Endless Love, Available Tuesday, May 13!

Endless Love is available on Digital HD on May 13th, 2014
The Endless Love Blu-ray Combo Pack is available on May 27th, 2014

****

When beautiful Jade meets charismatic David, her sheltered world of privilege turns upside down when the pair’s instant desire sparks a reckless summer love affair. While Jade leaves behind her inhibitions and innocence to fall for David, he works to prove himself worthy of her love. But when David’s mysterious past and Jade’s overprotective father threaten to tear them apart, their romance will be put to the ultimate test.

The story isn't new - two teens coming from two different backgrounds fall hopelessly in love. The remake of the 1981 film is a classic romance story starring Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde.
Viewers can related to this love that is both powerful and forbidden, and that is what makes it a great film. It made me believe in true love that can endure anything and everything - a feel-good film that does not disappoint.

I'm going to get my copy of Endless Love this Tuesday, are you?

My Spring/Summer Movie List - What Is Yours?

I love a good film. I love to watch pretty much anything and everything - from the horror genre, to thrillers, to western and war films over to the romantic comedies or dramas. If the plot speaks to me and the characters are portrait in a manner that matters to me (and quite frankly makes me feel with the characters), then I'm hooked. Again, I could watch a silly comedy or  chick flicks and have the best time ever while the next day I watch a drama based on a book or a real life story and experience the same feelings. I love them all.

Yesterday I needed a little time to myself. On my way home after school I stopped by the closest movie theater and watched "the other woman". I just needed to see it. It didn't disappoint that badly. :) I might have expected a few more laughs but it was a good film and I enjoyed my time back in a gigantic theater - plus I didn't pay for it so that was a bonus. Anyways, then it hit me...I haven't shared my love for new upcoming movies with you in a really long time. So, that's why I chose to share my Spring/Summer Movie List of 2014!

What do you think?
I'm sure I forgot a few films...

50 First Dates Reunited...haha!

I'm crying already!

Kristen Bell - Girl Crush

{via}

It is time.
This week, Veronica Mars arrives on the big screen.
I always loved this show.

Yet, today it's not about the movie.
It is about the actress.
It is time to share my girl crush again.

Kristen Bell has always been one of my favorites.
I guess it's her height (hello fellow shorty), or her way of living.
She acts and looks like the girl next door.
Her true beauty is simply just naturale.

Who is your Girl Crush?
And yes, females are entitled to have girl crushes too...guys have guy crushes, too.
Trust me.

Will You Build A Snowman With Me?

Ever since I was a little girl I have been in love with Disney Movies. Granted, some were good, some were not as good. Some movies even make you question what the real message is because when you get older you see and understand things a little differently. Plus, having a minor in Film Studies and the historical and humanistic approach to them makes me cry at times...but let's not go there.

I finally gave in, went to the movie theater, and watched my first Disney film in years. The last one I saw was Tangled and I didn't fully want to see it. I loved it, but Frozen? That was one of the cutest and funniest ones ever. I watched other Disney films on DVD but seeing it all on the big screen? So much better (and sadly more expensive). Guys, I fell in love. With Olaf. :) If you are familiar with this film you may know why. Also, quite ridiculously...the younger sister, Anna, is my twin - and well, her other half (not gonna spoil it for you if you haven't seen it) is basically my favorite person. We laughed so hard because of this - we couldn't believe it. Not that I am a princess but yes, Anna is me, or I am Anna.

After the film we had to get frozen yogurt so we went to my favorite spot - Yogurtland.
This place is my favorite of all places. I never liked Pinkberry; probably because you have to tell them what you want and can't mix it yourself. Also, Golden Spoon isn't my favorite either; too creamy. There are other places that sell frozen yogurt in our area or everywhere but I could not find a place that made me enjoy a halfway healthy and delicious "snack" time that much.

So, after Frozen we had frozen yogurt. Best idea ever!

Have you seen Frozen? Or any other Disney Movie you think is worth seeing?
Let me know. I am in the mood to watch some more this month!

Mark Your Calendars - Veronica Mars Is Back!!

I don't what you did years ago but when I was off from school I watched TV - specifically I watched  Veronica Mars. You don't know what or who that is?! This is either a sign that I am old or you are missing out. Or both.
Either way, this TV show was awesome and so entertaining. No wonder I was beyond sad when it ended. BUT, when I read that they were planning on making a film...I died!! In fact I'm dead. Kidding. I'm so stoked it's not even funny anymore. I think I just turned 19 again. Veronica was my heroine. Literally. Not to mention Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, and Ryan Hansen all united - again. Perfect. So, mark your calendars...March 14 it is!

The Great Gatsby

So looking forward to this movie. I read the book, saw the original movie, and still I'm captivated by this trailer. And no, it's not because Leonardo is in it...I could care less. Yes, I admit it. What are your thoughts on this one?

Monday Morning Gossip

Linking up with Leeann today. :) To sum up my weekend: it was busy. I didn't do much for school, but enjoyed life a little. This just means I'm going to be screwed for the next three weeks studying hard and writing stories. Wish me luck.

The highlight of the weekend...was...

...and no I didn't go opening day/night but went early morning on Sunday...which was equally as good just because the super craziness most movie theater get in the afternoon or early evening didn't exist and we had practically the theater to ourselves and the best seats in the house. I call this successful. :)

How about you?
Have you watched it yet?
Will you ever?
Or not at all?

All I have to say is that this month is packed with movies and I think my wallet is going to suffer a tiny bit.

Happy Monday.

Working Girl

I am working on finals.
I am a busy girl.
So excuse me while I kind of neglect the blogworld and focus on some other things.
Also, it's funny how this blog title perfectly fits with my current status...if I could (actually I can) I would be writing the following on Facebook (but I won't, don't worry!):

I am not only writing a final essay on the film Working Girl, I am a working girl.

Kind of ironic.

And oh yeah, it's supposed to be 52 degrees and raining tomorrow. Ehhh, no???! Please???
I want to have fun from tomorrow afternoon on...and rain will not really be that much fun.
Hmmmm....can someone please push those rain clouds away? Thank you.

Hope you are having a great week.
Bear with me. I'll be back early next week to tell you all about my hopefully fun and crazy weekend and final week. Great combo, I know.

Miss you all.

Movie Time

How's it going???
I'm feeling slightly better. Slightly. My cough just doesn't let me rest but it's okay. ;)
Though when you are sick you tend to neglect important things like homework, reading, studying, cleaning, washing, eeeehhhhmmm, just kidding. I did all of that. Not sure how but I did clean, wash, study, read, and my homework...no worries. :) But seriously, I watched too much TV and then a movie this weekend and then you automatically get into the movie mood. And when I get into the movie mood I cannot stop because holy cow awesome movies are coming out soon...and by soon I mean next month up until next year. YAY. Or maybe nay because movies aren't cheap even matinee prices.

Either way, here are a few of my favorite upcoming movies...I cannot wait!!!

I think that's enough for one day!!!
No???!!!

Have a great day, and a very happy Thanksgiving!!
And for those in Europe...have a wonderful rest of the week.
Cannot believe that in a month I'll be flying to Europe again. Time sure flies.

Weekend Update

Hello lovelies!!

I have been sick.
Not the best way to start a weekend update but hey, it's my second weekend having been sick and it just plainly sucked. But, on the bright side, I am getting better. I have to. Thanksgiving is around the corner and being sick cannot be happening on Thursday. No no no!! And besides, my google reader is screaming at me...I have been neglecting it for at least two weeks. :( I feel bad.

So, my main update for this weekend is...

...yes, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't counting down the days until November 16. Ha! Let's just say that much...I loved it. I have to be honest here, when the books came out and then the movies I wasn't at all into any of those. Could not stand them, at all. Let alone that pasty face of a vampire in the film I am not gonna name here because some of you might be lusting over him. All on good terms. I just couldn't stand them. But I was once bored and started watching the first movie, then the second, third, and well now these two parts and oh boy. I'm glad I did!!!! :)

Have you seen it? Let me know what you thought!

Happy Monday!!

xoxo

P.s. Yes, I'm linking up with Leeann, Sami and Dana for the Weekend Update

The Words

I'll be watching this soon.
Not because of Bradley Cooper (yeah, sorry!), but because I like movies like that...it may be predictable, or it may not be. All I know is, September 7 I will be watching this! :) YES. Oh wow, that's in a couple of days...

...I am excited. Who wants to join me?!

Weekend Update - Time for Batman

Hey lovelies!

I have been busy. School started again and it's been interesting so far. My favorite class is definitely Film. I always knew I was into movies, so this class is going to be more than just awesome. Speaking of, I gave in and finally saw The Dark Knight Rises on Saturday.

As a huge Batman Movie/Show fan I have to say I was a little disappointed. It was good, don't get me wrong. Great catharsis, great sound, great actors (hello!!!), but overall...I hated the villain. Obviously, the villain is never to be liked but I literally hated him. It felt too real, too non-fiction. Where's the impossible-looking villain? Not the real dude?! Really.

Anyhow, that was that...the movie and all was awesome, but the villain and the story line disappointed me a little. I was waiting sooooo long for some real action to happen. Sorry if I have spoiled things now for those of you who haven't seen it yet. Though the end was fun, and of course I have to say the Man Candy was oh-so-yummy! And I'm not only talking about Christian Bale here. ;) Sigh....

So how was your weekend?!
Mine literally just consisted of the movie...and homework, and maybe some laundry too...and yes, True Blood of course! :) :)

Linking up with Leeann, Sami and Dana!
Are you?

BLUE LIKE JAZZ

hey everyone! it's amanda again. you know... from yesterday! i just realized i never told you my name, sorry about that! i live on the east coast but, i'm a southern girl who's been displaced! and i'm so glad to have some more time with you guys. maybe i'm able to give Selma some time to study and get caught up on boring school work. haha!

i want to talk to you about another movie i've seen recently. it's called BLUE LIKE JAZZ and here's the trailer:

this movie is funny, poignant, interesting, sincere, thought provoking, and simply brilliant, if you ask me. this is an adaptation of the book Blue Like Jazz and i was lucky enough to meet and hang out with Donald Miller, the author, and Steve Taylor, the director. they are both amazing men and they are very passionate about this subject.

this movie is about a guy who goes to college and wants nothing to do with God, the church, or religion. similar to October Baby (see yesterday's post) he's attempting to find out who he is and what he's about. it is a Christian movie, but in the words of Steve Taylor, "it is not a family movie. who ever said that Christian movies have to be family friendly?"

i would strongly encourage you to see this movie if you are curious about who God is and what he's REALLY about; if you grew up in the church, and want nothing to do with it now; or if you are a Christian and want to laugh a lot and have your faith renewed!

since it's an independent film, it's not showing everywhere, but here's the website you can check out to see where it is playing and to buy tickets: http://www.bluelikejazzthemovie.com/

let me know what you think!! see you at the theaters!

next time i promise not to post about movies! well...maybe...

October Baby

hey guys!

i'm totally new to this blogging thing, but Selma was nice enough to allow me to try things out here. also, i hope you'll ignore my complete lack of regard for capitalization. after 5 years of art school, those kinds of things flew completely out the window!

i wanted to steal her blog for a minute to let you guys know about an amazing movie that's out RIGHT NOW! it's called October Baby. it's an amazing story about a girl who is a freshman in college finding out that she is an abortion survivor. as in, her birth mother attempted to abort her and it didn't work! i didn't even know that COULD happen, but it actually happens more than one would think.

so, this movie is about her journey to find out who she is and who her birth family is. it's a beautiful story of self-discovery. it's about a family's struggle to deal with half-truths that have been told to accomadate this and the healing that happens when someone decides to forgive.

the acting is pretty good for an independent film and you'll see some familiar faces. the soundtrack is also pretty great! the message isn't in-your-face, nor is it super-conservative, or pushing an agenda. it's really just a story, about a girl, learning about who she is, and who she wants to be.

i'm including some links, one to the website for the movie and resources available: http://www.octoberbabymovie.net/

the producers of October Baby have assigned 10% of the profits of the movie to the Every Life is Beautiful Fund, which will distribute funds to frontline organizations helping women facing crisis pregnancies, life-affirming adoption agencies, and those caring for orphans. here is their website: http://www.everylifeisbeautiful.com/

this movie may not be in theaters past THIS THURSDAY so go see it THIS WEEK! you have 3 more days!!

thanks so much for letting me hang out with you! it's been fun! let me know if you're able to see the movie and what you think!
