A Summer List

Seasonal lists are my favorite lists. It gets always a bit depressing at the end of a season though when I see my lists barely tackled. However, I always believe in the positive and with my lists I hope to encourage us to look forward to new ideas, new places to discover and exciting new recipes to try. I always have good intentions but life takes over, we know how that goes. Let's hope both B and I accomplish a little more this summer than this spring. Fingers crossed. And as always I will be back crossing things off this summer list.
  • Bake a pie or cake {I baked my favorite blueberry peach cake again; we love it so much}
  • Go to mom's favorite church and light a candle in her honor {SF trip in August}
  • Go to the beach
  • Make a fun and refreshing summer cocktail {mmmm, I failed two times...oops!}
  • Make popsicles
  • Eat more fruits, veggies and fish
  • Play miniature golf {indoor mini golf in Reno!}
  • Read at least 3 books!
  • Go to an outdoor theater
  • A day trip, just the two of us {Placerville, CA in July}
  • Get a healthy tan
  • Happy Hour at a new place
  • Lose a few more pounds
  • Attend a local event
  • Donate a ton and live lighter
  • Organize a family get together because family is everything! {quick trip to Reno in August}
  • Have an end of summer dinner party!
If you ever make seasonal lists like I do, what is on your summer list this year?

Kitchen Item Lust

Summer is around the corner, there's no denying this. Temperatures are slowly rising, flowers are blooming, we see more produce, more flies, more ants, too, lighter clothing material, and more recipes that allow us to dream of salads and BBQ dinners in the backyard. What is not to love? Right? So here I am looking around my kitchen realizing I needed new bowls {ours have clearly seen better days}, a few new accessories to make this year's summer bright and fun, and a new cutting board. So I went online shopping...online window shopping so far and here's what I found:

Summer kitchen item lust

How cute is this cutting board!!?! Showing my state pride with this beauty. You can find it at JCPenney's and even BedBath&Beyond. Summer always consists of lots of cool drinks. I make my own lavender lemonade and lemon water so a new pitcher is also needed. Turquoise is such a perfect summer color {also available in different colors} so I am slightly drooling here. Our plates are still pretty okay so I may not upgrade the collection but I could always use new ones that go with a new summer pitcher. I have been looking for a tray to add to our home and well, I might have just found it. I don't shop seasonally but sometimes you got to add a bit of color to your every day life and kitchen. Plus, with summer almost here why not start now and not when it is too late {or sold out}.

I don't want to spend a ton on new items. Items are clearly just items and can always be replaced. Yet, over the past few months I realized that waiting for the right time or moment to purchase something new is silly. That moment may never come so why wait? Go get yourself that cutting board showing off some state pride, or new bowls because well, you know you need and want it all. Plus, again, you'll regret it later I am sure.

My kitchen item lust list would go on but I can only afford so much while still staying sane. I clearly don't want to go overboard and replace it all because, well, I don't have the money and frankly not even the space for it. Ha!

Are you like me lusting over new kitchen utensils or plates, or what not?! If so, what is it? Let me know.

Have an amazing day and weekend ahead of you. I promise I'll stay away from all the shopping. ;-)

Strong and Dark - Blue

End of August nears! End of August nears!!!
Not only is our one-year anniversary approaching {August 29!!!!!} I am also hoping to see and feel some cooler temperatures. Honestly, summer will stay in California for quite some time and I don't think fall will arrive until October or even November. With darker and stronger colors I can trick my mind and make me slowly adjust to upcoming cooler temps, perhaps? No?!

Untitled #111

I think, despite the very hot temperatures we are still having, it is time to take out my navy, dark blue colored wardrobe. It will make for a fun date outfit. I don't own rompers {I am too short for that; insert sad face} but I own some cute, tight navy colored pants that I can easily pair with a printed top, or use my newest blue colored top I received from StitchFix. They really nailed it when I received my last fix and I could not be any happier with my new top. So, blue is definitely my color. It's great for any season but it's definitely a fantastic color to transition into any new season. This is my fall color I can tell!!!

Any fun color you are looking forward to wearing soon? Are you wearing a specific color to transition into fall? Let me know. I need some ideas.

Have a fantastic day my lovelies,

My Europe Trip {1}

In May I had to abruptly fly to Europe to spend incredible last hours with my mom and say my good-byes to her. I am still in awe at how everything turned out to be so negative, so unfair, so fast and so unexpected. However, it was the right thing to do, and today I know it was the right timing for me. If I had gone earlier to see her my hopes would have been up and I would have been more devastated. I still carry anger with me, and I am still upset at everything but I understand that this needed to happen whether or not I liked the outcome.

So flying to Europe was not exactly a positive trip for me, BUT even on my saddest and darkest days I tried to find happiness and enjoy my months in Europe. Being back home was fantastic yet sad. I was able to see some friends and their beautiful children, see family, talk endless hours about life and love, eat my favorite dishes, see sights I hadn't seen in years, and I learned that no matter what happens in life, we gotta move forward and keep smiling. I wanted to do more but did not have the energy to do so. Exhaustion sucks.

Finding happiness and beauty was one major thing that kept me going {and knowing I will be reunited with my favorite person again of course}. So with my old iPhone I captured what I could and today I am sharing it with you.

Switzerland - the Swiss weather blessed us most days...hot, blue skies, and some rain at times. Perfection.

Yes I saw that sheep. It was actually a cute one. I still kept my distance though. I took a lot of shots of the lake, panoramas of my hometown, and of simple, ordinary things most people take for granted and would not even ever consider taking a photo of. Imagine me taking photos of cobblestones, a bottle of soda, and street names. Weird, I know. I had a good time in Switzerland despite everything.

Today I am coming to terms with everything, and I know it is for the better that I am in California and not in Europe at the moment. Fingers crossed I get to recover smoothly and happily. Just blogging alone and knowing I am doing this somewhat on a regular basis again is a good sign I think. No?!

I have more photos to share with you but didn't want to share too much at once. :)

Hope your day is going great!!!

Happy Wednesday!

xoxo

P.s. Don't worry, I didn't eat any of that pastry. I was trying to but friends kept me away. Good friends, really good friends.

Freshly Uplifting - Yellow

August is still in full session and summer hasn't technically ended yet. So I thought yellow would be the perfect color to add to my weekly color inspiration board. It's fresh, uplifting, and just screams happy!! If I only had more yellow in my current closet...

Untitled #112

Yellow is not really a color that suits my fair skin {tan or not} but a perfectly matching yellow hue added to any outfit has never hurt anyone. Yellow flats, or a scarf, or a simple purse go so well with almost any other color, especially blue, black and white!!! It's still summer after all.

Do you own anything yellow? I only have a scarf and a couple of tops that go well with cardigans or blazers. Flats would be cute to own in that color. It's like wearing a splash of sunflower all day long!

Refreshingly Beautiful - Turquoise

It may be August and it may cool down soon but this does not mean we can't stop thinking about cool summer colors. Turquoise, teal, light blue or whatever you may call this refreshingly beautiful color is one of my very favorites. It's a great summer color! I use it in our bathroom. I also use it when I have a bad day or need something uplifting. The only thing I don't use this color on is my eyes. Turquoise works with my eye color but not with my skin color. It always looks like I got punched in the face. So, I use it everywhere else but on my eyelids. My favorite top for a date night? You guessed right, it's turquoise.

Untitled #109

This board reminds me now to get a turquoise bowl or probably two for our home. I am not entirely done with our bathroom, so who knows, I might put a bowl in there. Besides, doesn't this color remind you of the beach, endless sunsets, and your feet walking on sand while a cool summer breeze comes in? It sure does, doesn't it? No wonder I chose this color.

Happy almost mid-August...where did the time go? Besides, we are going to have sizzling temperatures again...I am in desperate need of some cool refreshing inspiration; turquoise definitely does the trick.

New Month, New Me

Hello my lovelies,

How has your summer been? You know about mine, and in case you missed out I am going to enlighten you. Spring started out beautifully until I was notified that my mom was in the hospital and despite a great surgery was suffering and deteriorating, so I booked a flight within hours, flew home to Europe, saw mom for three full days and knew that those hours and days were our last days together. I felt it, and I am sure she did too. It was the most devastating, most surreal experience ever and even though I knew that at some point life will end I didn't want mom to leave like this let alone this early. I think I spent May in denial. I knew it happened but couldn't fully grasp its reality. June came along, and with my birthday month I also learned that my body was exhausted from everything I went through in May. I not only lost my mother, I lost my home, cleaned up, organized a ton and yes, did all that by myself. Yes, I had awesome friends helping me out and without their generosity, help, heart, and patience I would not have made it through, but most of the stuff I had to wrestle with alone. July was a whirlwind of emotions. My cousin got married and I flew to Turkey to attend her special day, I had to see a few more friends of mine before I was finally able to fly back home to California.

I flew home last week. I am home. It was time. I'm finally where I belong. I am with the love of my life, in our new home trying to find my path in life again. Things between us have not changed but I know I have to work on a few things in order to grief accordingly and to move on. My favorite person and I will work on this together and I can already tell you that this will help me heal.

NOW, I took quite a break from blogging. I missed it dearly. I missed this community, and I missed sharing recipes, or my healthy challenges, photos, and life stories with you. Mostly, I missed you! With August started today I decided I needed to get back into some sort of a blog groove.

So what do you say?! New month, new start, new everything?!
I'm even updating and working on my summer list - go check it out!!
Oh, and I'm trying to catch up on blog reading as well...does that count towards those six books I wanted to read over the summer?!

Summer List 2015

For years I have made seasonal lists but always kept them to myself. I posted my first official list last year and I think I want to make this a regular occurrence. Seasonal lists are fun. They are filled with things I, or now we, would like to do during a specific season, whether it's trying a new restaurant, being creative, doing something we haven't done before, or going on a trip.

Sometimes it is a little depressing to see the list barely even tackled. Life happens, and it can get the best of us. I believe that the effort counts, and with a list it is at least easier to go about a new project or trip or discovery. I am trying to accomplish most of what is on my list and thought I'd share it with you.  It will be fun to come back here, cross some things off, and create some fun memories along the way. Here's to a fabulous summer of 2015!!
  • Travel to Europe to see my mom and a few friends! {unfortunately, this has changed but in a way I am in Europe right now, and I am seeing friends...but life has drastically changed}
  • Organize life and paperwork {so hard, my dear lovers...it's sooooo darn hard}
  • Return home to my favorite person {fingers crossed early July it happens}; {finally happened 7.23}
  • Bake a fruit pie
  • Make a yogurt pie
  • Go to the lake {did this almost every day in Switzerland; hopefully in California I'll do the same}
  • Go to the ocean
  • Go the farmer's market {update will follow}
  • Make sangria or mojitos or both
  • Read at least 6 books - two per month
  • Make popsicles
  • Happy Hour in San Francisco or near the ocean!
  • Go back to Napa Valley and enjoy some great wines and eateries {9/2/15}
  • Start growing our own herb garden {rosemary, basil, thyme and mint...we have the space!}
  • Go to the beach and make a two-day trip out of it
  • Visit Southern California if time allows
  • Make new friends
  • Explore smaller towns around the area
  • Spend a lot of time with family and Swiss friends {early July I went to Istanbul for a family reunion and wedding...long but wonderful weekend; update with follow}
  • Work out three times a week and not just once or twice
  • Prioritize life and cherish moments
*List updated as of 9/3/15

Do you ever make seasonal lists? Would love to hear if you have anything planned for this summer since it's officially about to start! {Can you believe it!?}

As many of you know, my mom passed away almost one month ago. I cannot believe how fast time flies. I was able to see her, talk to her and assure her I am fine and happy. It was one of the hardest things I had to do in life. I had to let go of someone I love. I am not alone in this. One of my dear friends lost her mom when she was 16, and now even almost twenty years later it still hurts. I think this feeling will never fully vanish but we learn how to live with it and how it guides us in life. Mom would want me to live on and cherish each moment. I will with this list for sure. I always make lists, and today I think this list has an even bigger and better meaning!!!!

Happy summer 2015!!!!

End of My Summer List

Fall is basically around the corner {this Monday!! September 1 is when it starts for me - I know, so unofficial} and so I decided that it is time to look back at this terribly hot summer.

A while back I made a summer list, and today I am closing it to see what I have accomplished. Over time I went back to the list to see what I needed to do or should do to make summer 2014 fun, colorful, and especially eventful. I wanted this summer to be a great one especially since it marked a new part of my life.  Easier said or written than done.

Here's my list, and what I was able to accomplish between July 1 and today August 31:

  • Explore more of Sacramento and surroundings {7.16.14}
  • Visit Orange County {going early August - 8.18.14}
  • Travel to and explore the Reno area {completed, yet will be going back a few times}
  • Visit San Francisco {7.21.14}
  • Visit Monterey
  • Go to one or two wineries {did so, on 8.29.14}
  • Make strawberry mojitos
  • Make sangrias
  • Make popsicles
  • Bake a gluten free apple pie, and maybe a plum pie
  • Go to the Farmer's Market hopefully twice a month {went to a daily market, does that count?}
  • Go to the beach because we miss it so terribly much
  • Watch a movie at an outdoor movie theater – preferably a drive-in theater
  • Go hiking
  • Read at least four books {I managed to read three, so I kinda fulfilled this, no?}
  • Catch up on my favorite shows (Criminal Minds included)
  • Decorate the apartment with artwork so it looks welcoming and less boring
  • Turn off my phone for at least two hours each day starting July 1 for two months (yes, each day) - {each day was hard; so it took a while to get used to this...let's just say I tried and I halfway succeeded}
  • Find a job (not a summer goal but it must happen this summer) - {volunteer work found, unpaid, but it was at least a distraction}
Do you make lists, or am I the only crazy one?

My summer started promising, and then it got a little hectic. I wanted to do so much and ended up crossing almost nothing off of my list. I will try to make sangria, and then the recipe will be up soon. We are still planning on going to an outdoor movie theater. We waited until temperatures dropped. It wasn't comfortable or romantic to watch a movie with temps in the high 80s at night. Cooler temps are more fun!! Also, the apple pie recipe should be up soon. So much has happened in the past few weeks, heck days, and so much is going to happen in the next few weeks so bear with me and my recipes, my recaps, and especially with details to what actually happened on Friday - my big day! WOW.

I am definitely ready for fall!! Hope you are too. :)

Refreshing Lavender Lemonade

Hot summers can be a drag. The only fantastic part about them are refreshing drinks. The other day I tried a recipe I found in one of many cooking magazines I was handed down by my future mother-in-law {for the record, she loves my creamy potato salad and knows I know how to cook just wants to inspire me more}, and couldn't wait to try it out. Lavender is known to have a soothing and calming effect and when it gets too busy, too hot, and too overwhelming a little lavender can help. It turned out refreshingly perfect.

Here's what you need:

1/4 cup dried organic OR food-grade lavender buds
2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup sugar
1 tray of ice cubes {14 large ones}
8 small lemons
3-5 cups cold water

Here's what you do:

- put the lavender in a large heat-safe bowl, and pour in boiling water.
- allow to steep for 10 minutes, then strain out and discard the lavender
- stir sugar into hot lavender water until dissolved
- add ice cubes, stir until cool
- pour lemonade into a 2-quart pitcher {if you haven't done so already}
- squeeze lemons and put juice into pitcher
- top of with cold water, stir and serve
- adjust lemon juice or sugar to taste
- enjoy!

The wonderful smell in our apartment was better than any candle every used!

I failed to take a photo of the end product, so I looked for one online and found one that quite resembles my own refreshing drink. My favorite person even liked it, and he's not at all into "girlie drinks" - so knowing this was to his liking I am happily announcing he requested for more lavender lemonade!

Next time I'm making some {and it will be very soon} I will add honey or use it instead of sugar, plus I will try to make my drink more purple.Cannot wait to experiment.

Do you have a summer drink you enjoy drinking, or even making?
What makes a great refreshing summer drink?

Summer Nights

Happy early weekend everyone.
It has been hot here. I really miss the ocean, and I really miss those fancy restaurants along the pier that make every Friday night a special date night. I am far away from my beloved ocean even though San Francisco is so close. I will be back in my home in a few weeks yet until then I am dreaming of summer nights along the pacific where I hear and smell the the waves crashing. SoCal will have me back early August! In order to celebrate this, and in order to celebrate my friend's Bridal Shower this Sunday (I sadly cannot make it though) I created this outfit and am linking up to Friday Fancies
Have fun, and have a brilliant weekend!!!

Summer Nights

July 1, 2014

Hello July

Happy 1st of July my readers!
This month will be fantastic, hectic, sunny, hot, and just beautiful.

What will you be doing?
I will definitely try to accomplish a few of my things on my summer list,
as well as celebrate the 4th in a few days.
Time sure flies.
A year ago I was in Switzerland, celebrating my friend's birthday, sitting with my mom while sipping yummy coffee or wine along our river and lake.
This year, I will either be in San Francisco, or Sacramento wearing my season scarf and enjoying some fireworks!!!

A Summer List

Every year right around spring and early beginning of summer I start to dream of what summer will have in store for me. I would create a list with things I always wanted to try, do, or explore. I would also have lists for each season but the summer list would be the biggest of all. Usually, I would travel around Europe; Germany, France, Italy, Spain, England, Greece or/and Turkey. I would also hang out with friends and enjoy open-air music festivals, eat out more than usual and enjoy late summer nights out on the town – with 80 degrees at 9 at night it would feel pretty darn good.

This year my summer looks a little different. I am not traveling to Europe. I am far away from my friends and family. I am in California. I am personally and hopefully also professionally growing. Plus, I am no longer alone. Yet, all this change will not hinder me to dream of fun summer activities as well as make some of these dreams actually come true – and a new place just asks for a fun and new summer list with exciting things to do!

Here’s my list for this year. It will be fun to come back to this list and cross a few things off from time to time. After all, I want this summer to be a great one; especially since this marks a new part of my life.

  • Explore more of Sacramento and surroundings {as of 7/1 we saw 95% of Sacto}
  • Visit Orange County {going early August}
  • Travel to and explore the Reno area {completed, yet will be going back a few times}
  • Visit San Francisco
  • Visit Monterey
  • Go to one or two wineries
  • Make strawberry mojitos
  • Make sangrias
  • Make popsicles
  • Bake a gluten free apple pie, and maybe a plum pie
  • Go to the Farmer's Market hopefully twice a month
  • Go to the beach because we miss it so terribly much
  • Watch a movie at an outdoor movie theater – preferably a drive-in theater
  • Go hiking
  • Read at least four books
  • Catch up on my favorite shows (Criminal Minds included)
  • Decorate the apartment with artwork so it looks welcoming and less boring
  • Turn off my phone for at least two hours each day starting July 1 for two months (yes, each day)
  • Find a job (not a summer goal but it must happen this summer)
Do you make lists, or am I the only crazy one?
Would love to hear what you have planned this summer.

Have a great weekend.

What I Love About Summer

Hey everyone! It's Sierra from Ocean Dreams blog and I'm happy to be writing on my lovely friend Selma's blog once again. ;) I hope you are having a beautiful day and are enjoying the start to your summer! Summer doesn't officially start until June 21st this year, but that doesn't mean we can't start our summer now! If you're like me and Selma you're currently in super hot temps over 100 degrees, which means you should not only be wearing sunscreen, but also having fun while drinking lots of water! ;) Here are some of my favorite summer activities that don't cost a ton of money, but are absolutely fun!

{via}

Hanging out at the Pool

I have yet to do this yet, but I have a perfectly good pool right outside my apartment in Arizona! I can't wait to hop in the pool and lounge on a pool chair. I also like reading a good book, magazine, and listen to music on my iPod while sitting poolside. Okay, I think I might have to do this sooner rather than later. The pool is definitely calling my name!

{via}

Road Trips

Who doesn't love a good summer road trip? I actually just did this to see Selma and soon I'll be doing it again to see my love whom I fondly call BK. My puppy Candy will be coming with me of course as we drive to my sunny California. Do you have any road trips coming up? If you don't, you honestly should plan one! A road trip invites adventure in in more ways than one. You can view the new sites in a city without spending a lot of money, besides gas of course. Walk around the city, go window shopping, and visit the beautiful parks. It's fun just to be outside enjoying nature while enjoying your new destination or stop along the way!

{via}

Time with Friends and Family

Of course don't forget about all of the precious moments you can spend with friends and family. Catch up with loved ones you haven't called in a while and have a fun summer day with them. Take time to laugh, love and forgive if you're holding grudges against anyone in particular. Enjoy your summer before it fades away and take a risk and invite adventure and love in!

My Spring/Summer Movie List - What Is Yours?

I love a good film. I love to watch pretty much anything and everything - from the horror genre, to thrillers, to western and war films over to the romantic comedies or dramas. If the plot speaks to me and the characters are portrait in a manner that matters to me (and quite frankly makes me feel with the characters), then I'm hooked. Again, I could watch a silly comedy or  chick flicks and have the best time ever while the next day I watch a drama based on a book or a real life story and experience the same feelings. I love them all.

Yesterday I needed a little time to myself. On my way home after school I stopped by the closest movie theater and watched "the other woman". I just needed to see it. It didn't disappoint that badly. :) I might have expected a few more laughs but it was a good film and I enjoyed my time back in a gigantic theater - plus I didn't pay for it so that was a bonus. Anyways, then it hit me...I haven't shared my love for new upcoming movies with you in a really long time. So, that's why I chose to share my Spring/Summer Movie List of 2014!

What do you think?
I'm sure I forgot a few films...

50 First Dates Reunited...haha!

I'm crying already!

It's HOT!

Switzerland isn't really known to have sizzling hot summers. They are usually around 75 to maximum 80 degrees on a very hot summer day. This has changed over the past ten years. Blame global warming or whatever. It's happening. We all notice. It's happening all over the world. The changes here are as follows: 1) it's either very very rainy and cold, like what was happening since March until mid-June. 50 degrees and constant rain isn't fun. Or 2) it's so hot you just want to rip your skin off. The latter is happening right now.

It's been so hot it's not even funny. California and other states, cities and what not may have had a heatwave too (and I'm just speaking US now) but heck, you guys have ACs most of the time (with a few exceptions I know). There's no AC here. There's no draft or wind or whatever here. At least not now and if there is we are usually not standing there because well, we don't know where that draft or wind actually occurs. If you were wondering if we had fans...yes we do. They usually just create more dust and muggy air.

So, without further ado...it's hot, and all I want to do is sit by my imaginary pool and relax. Or walk around in a fluffy dress.

Happy Friday my lovelies.
Hope you are having a cooler day and are enjoying ice cream or a cool drink. In a fluffy dress of course. :)

Friday's Fancies - Sunnies

Happy Friday everyone.
I needed a break from all the drama that's been going on in Turkey, so I decided to cheer myself up with Long Distance Loving's weekly linkup.

This week's theme is all about sunglasses. I love sunglasses. One more reason for me to join today. If you know me you'd know I am utterly obsessed with Kate Spade and her sunglasses. I cannot help it. They fit me and my awkwardly shaped face. I love them, especially when I get them at a discounted price thanks to an amazing friend working at a special sunglass store. I love it. So, needless to say, guess what pair I chose for today's post?!

Kate Spade Glasses Love

I have that same pair of sunglasses and cannot get enough of them. One of the best Christmas present so far. So glad the sun returned to Europe so I can actually wear them here as well. And really, lately I have been into pink pants. Someone please tell me that this is okay?!

Happy Friday, and happy weekend.

Will miss you all when I'm visiting one of the most beautiful cities in the world; even today with all the chaos that's been going on. Istanbul, here I come.

Turquoise Friday Inspiration

As summer is slowly leaving us - have you noticed that the sun sets already earlier? - I really want to capture the last couple of weeks full of hot air, sunshine, blue skies and whatnot. My favorite color this summer, and well any other summer really is turquoise. It gives me a cool feeling, wanting to suck on Popsicles and drink refreshing margaritas. Though, a little pink had to be added too...otherwise it would not be perfect! What do you think?!

Have a lovely day and weekend!
I was busy on Wednesday (hang out with Sierra from Ocean Dreams), and yesterday, well, the pool called my name and I couldn't really say no to that.

Any fun plans planned for the weekend?
A friend is coming down from Ventura County and I believe we all are hanging out. And even if not, I'd be probably reading and looking for a car. Bleh. And enjoying my last weekend before school starts again. What was I thinking, really?

P.s.: New Header is up...Blog Button will be replaced soon as well!! :)   Like or Dislike?!

Friday's Fancies: European Style

Happy Friday Lovelies!!!
Any fun plans for this weekend?

Since I already started to be a little more into fashion this week I am linking up with Long Distance Loving again for Friday's Fancies. This week's theme is called "Euro Trip", and should or could possibly be an outfit we'd be wearing walking through our favorite European city.
As I just happen to be in Europe this is going to be a lot of fun. I could add up to 456 outfits, but won't. I'll probably stick to one, or maybe two because Europe is too gorgeous and so fascinating when it comes to fashion...it is such a perfect spot to get fashion-inspired. Have fun with my outfit(s).

Imagine a hot summer's day...somewhere in lovely Barcelona, or even in Palermo. Or hey, why not even in Paris or Istanbul or Berlin. It is hot and all you want is walk and let whatever air happens to come your way come your way so your dress slowly but welcoming-ly is flowing from left to right and back to left. You need a fun and bubbly drink, a view to look at, and just a very comfy, girlie but fun outfit. I think the following sums it up, no?
European Summer 2012

Have a brilliant day and an awesome weekend.
And don't forget to head on over and link up if you're playing along.

Weekend Update

Ever since I returned from Istanbul I'm enjoying lovely Switzerland and its wonderful summer. Granted, there are moments I feel lonley and wonder if I made the right decision to come back over the summer, or to leave in the first place. Then there are moments that remind me that life's great no matter what, and that I will always belong here, no matter where I am. I'll return one day. I know that much.

This weekend, again, showed me life is beautiful and great.
Saturday, the annual Old Town Festival was happening here in Luzern, and that literally. And we were melting. It was extremely hot, and extremely sticky. Those cool drinks trying to help us weren't enough, so we kept refilling our water bottles everywhere we could. I think I never drank that much - water.
It was fun to enjoy a festival I've been going to for the past 26 years. To enjoy it with close friends is the best thing ever. If you were born in this city and you are not going to this festival because you don't feel like it, you are not from here. As simply as that. It is a must. If you happen to be on vacation and out of the country you are excused of course. :) Maybe. :) And if you're pregnant and about to pop a baby then yes, you are excused to.

Who turns down live music, people (young and old), friends and fun times down?! And all that for free?! Hardly anyone.

It was fun and I'm glad I went. Again.
I took mental pictures again...with fun stories to remember! :)

Then of course, if you are following me on twitter you know that I've been watching soccer like a little maniac. Well, not that drastic but yes, I've been watching soccer. I apologize for any weird tweets you might have read especially if you are not familiar with this sport nor with the European touch to it. :) Let's just compare this summer's Championship to the American Superbowl. Sort of. But soccer is Europe's sport and when countries compete with each other it gets interesting.

Tolerance and Respect for Diversity were a huge deal this year (again, just like during the Soccer World Championship two years ago!!), and sometimes, some people do not get that.

*I know we all love it when our country plays and wins, and when our country loses it is no fun. But it doesn't mean you are allowed to grab chairs, tables and bikes and throw them around destroying whatever comes your way and even vandalizing a cop car. NO WAY. One night about two weeks ago it went askew so to speak. Luckily I was watching at home where I can open my mouth and curse at the screen and the opposite team/country. ;) I'd never get physical. It's a game. One wins, and one loses. That simple. Deal with it. Go home and cry. Don't destroy property because, really, it is not worth it.*
had to add this sidenote

So proud to be living in this city....really, it's a total shame!

So yeah, this year's European Soccer Championship has been interesting.
My favorite team was Spain, from start to the end.
You may wonder why Spain.
Well, Switzerland wasn't playing. Sorry, but they can't play.
Then, Turkey wasn't playing either. Apparently they suck too.
And well, Spain...well, Spain...they are just good. Smooth, familiar, and fun to look at.
And they won the European Championchip four years ago, and the World Championship two years ago so naturally you know Spain plays well, you know their game is interesting to watch and some of the players (as a girl, it's obvious) are pretty easy on the eyes too.
So yeah, I was for Spain.

And who doesn't want to see history happen right in front of your eyes?!

Needless to say, you may know who won already...I know.
I'm smiling...happily.
So excited and so happy.
And no I'm not Spanish, but "my" country won and that is all that matters to me.

Hope youre weekend was great.
Today I'm linking up with the following three blogs! :)

Happy Monday!
