Rainy Random Weekend Update

http://www.pinterest.com/pin/329325791471844854/

I have been MIA for the past week. It was a perfect way for me to unplug and enjoy life. I did not touch my computer once. Even though my Thanksgiving didn't turn out as planned it was still a good and long weekend. I think I have not watched this many Christmas movies or just regular films for a very long time. It felt great. I even introduced my favorite person to some films he had never watched. I had to watch a few of my favorites - so thrilled he lets me introduce films to him he may actually like. He liked this one a lot. Granted, he'd prefer action packed, bloody stuff....but well, for this holiday season he decided to go with the simple one; then again, hew as tired from working all week long {even on Thanksgiving} so he just plainly gave in. Haha!

http://www.pinterest.com/pin/46865652341805967/

I could go on and tell you about the films I watched but this would end up super long and quite boring. Also, it was constantly raining so that meant I was trapped most of the time watching films until my eyes would not stay open. On Sunday however, I was a happy girl. My favorite person finally had a day off {before his entire week of vacation started} and we decided to go against the rain and see the California Automobile Museum. It was a great way to enjoy a cold and gray Sunday. Plus, when I see cars from 1906 and 1926 and 1938 I get a little weak...so much history, so much those cars could tell us...plus, that prestige they provide and the elegance they carry with them is just impeccable. Today, cars don't have this beauty about them anymore.

Just looking at these I feel the history coming back and all. I swear, I am definitely born in the wrong decade...or, as I always say, I might as well have lived in the 1930s - hair, shoes, and all.

Time to fix the leaking roof now...wish me luck.

The Carlton of 2014

Do you remember watching the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Whether or not you watched the show there is one thing that stuck with all of us...The Carlton Dance! It is one of those dances that made you laugh, smile, question and maybe even cry at the same time. It's the funniest, weirdest and yet most memorable dance on TV ever. The show is long over, and all actors, especially Will Smith have moved on...but this week on Dancing With The Stars Alfonso danced The Carlton once again - and beautifully I have to say.

I had to share this. I mean, come on. I grew up with this show. It made my week better, it made me laugh, it made me mad but most importantly it stuck with me throughout the years. James Avery was our TV dad for six years {I was so sad when he passed almost a year ago}. Crazy how long ago the show ended. Glad we were rooting for Alfonso to finally dance his dance again. Glad he did.

I had to re-watch a few YouTube videos of the show to see the "real" Carlton again. So much fun. Shows like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air don't really exist today. There are a few that are similar but lack the real fun and the real human aspect at times. Don't get me wrong. There are awesome shows out there, even more so spectacular films touching our hearts and souls, but times have changed and so have jokes, issues, and acting. Anyways, have fun watching this video and maybe even looking for the original dance online somewhere. If you are like me, you will laugh at this and remember the good old teenage days with the family Banks.

Excuse my Absence while I watch TV

I so want to be a Gladiator. Maybe I am one.

Aren't we all living a Modern Family life?!

I am eager to know what this new show is all about.

Bones. Oh Bones.

These are just a few of the shows that will air this week. Some started last week, more to start next week and the week after. I am so excited. While I am working on redefining my life and the permissions, I will have time to watch these shows. I will not be distracted with long reading hours, and the ridiculousness professors want from their students {not saying it's bad, in the end it will always make sense; I learned that much}.  Also, I will have more time to change things on this blog {new URL will follow, maybe even new platform, we shall see}, blog more, and finally share some wedding stuff with you {after all I am sure you wanted that to happen}, and help my lovely guy figure things out with one of his last classes. He cannot stand it but in order to graduate, in order to succeed he needs that class. It is his nightmare this semester. Poor guy.

But for now...it is catch up time on some of my favorite shows!!!

Happy Monday!!!

I'm sitting on a couch and I'm laughing...

Do you know The People's Couch?!
It's a show showing you people sitting on their couches (or beds) and watching current shows like The Bachelor, Flipping Out, NCIS, The Good Wife, The Walking Dead...you name it. I knew this show existed but forgot about it until I was suddenly reminded of the show by my former speech professor. Rachel is an amazing woman and so inspirational - almost unbelievable. So, when I saw on Facebook that she, her sisters and her dad were participating I had to watch the show. The fun just triples up when you know people.

Guys...it's been hilarious.
The People's Couch is not another reality TV show - it's a show with regular people, just like you and I, watching TV on a Monday or Wednesday night and reacting and commenting to scenes. You know you do react when someone dies, or something weird happens. Everyone does. I wish I had a camera showing my reaction when I watched an episode of House of Cards the other day. Anyways, my point is, this show isn't just ahhhh, let's wait until something happens... That something is never going to happen. It's just watching people watching shows. As simple as that. Sounds lame, yes, but trust me, it's funny!!!!!!

So much fun.

When in need of another show but a completely different one...then watch The People's Couch on Bravo! Let me know what you think! xoxo

Purple Rose of Cairo

I watched this film in class and fell in love.
I'm not a huge Woody Allen fan, yes, I admit that much but this film was FUN.
Taking my third film class is an amazing experience right now. I can't put it in words. It's insightful, fun, and not at all (so far) as dramatic as I thought it would be. Plus, who doesn't like to sit in class and watch a full movie?! Really.

So, if you haven't seen this...I'd recommend it just for the heck of it.
It's a comedy set in the 1930s...and well, it's a film about films!

Off I go to a very long day at school....wish it was work.

Catch ya soon again.

Music - I'm still gleed

No matter what happens life always continues - with or without people we love and care about.
This episode will be heartbreaking but good. I can feel it.
Tomorrow night it is. I will be there.

In other news...school's making me neglect things I love - again. It's all for a good cause though. It'll pay off soon. Also, my bestie is coming to town and we will have a fun time this weekend...cannot wait! Girls weekends are always fun.

Happy Wednesday everyone.
Hope it's a great one.

P.s. It finally cooled down in southern California. YES.

Monday Morning Gossip - What a Weekend

My lovelies,

What can I say? Life is short. Life is precious. Life is everything and nothing at the same time. For every one of us life means something else. Though, once it is lost it will not return. Even if it did it would not be in the same form. This weekend has been a complete mess. And my weekend usually starts Fridays whether or not I am traveling through Europe. It was a long mess.

I for once had to turn the TV off. News of people getting killed, fighting, protesting, and what not made me simply sad. I later on turned it back on to watch DVDs that lifted me up. Best idea ever!

Health issues in my family hit my emotional levels pretty hard. And, I learned things over the past month about my family I'd rather not know. I'm appalled, shocked, impressed that it took so long for the truth to come out, and just mad. All these feelings came back this weekend it was like an avalanche rolling down from nowhere. I know now why I am the way I am today. Take this as a good thing!

I also turned off twitter and facebook mostly during the day. Good idea. No retweets and updates from my lovely people all over the world, nothing from news channels, and nothing from my dear friends. I needed a break. I slept in and for once it felt like a good idea at that time.

However, when you open your phone early in the morning because you can't sleep all night and get hit with texts, twitter and facebook updates you know something's not right. Florida disappointed big time (sorry but that's just a ridiculous verdict and just a whole lot of crap! - sorry); that was one big news. The first big news wasn't even fully processed by that time. Cory Monteith's death wasn't exactly something I wanted to read at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning after a very intense, uncomfortable, and weird night with hardly any sleep (won't disclose why but hey, got to keep some stuff private here as well). I thought I didn't read his name right but turned out I did. Crap it.

He'll be missed by many.
And that's how I remember him, with sunglasses.

And if the weekend didn't already start badly...I got sick Sunday. Bet it's a 24h-thing. Stayed home all day in my pj's contemplating about life, love, family, the future, and well, sadly also death. It was a weekend not to remember.

Hope your weekend was better, and if not, let's hope this week is going to rock our socks. At least I will get new glasses and have a fabulous Japanese Dinner Date with my Japanese aunt on Wednesday. Cannot wait. Something good has to happen.

Linking up with Leeann over at Join The Gossip.
You should too!

The Great Gatsby

So looking forward to this movie. I read the book, saw the original movie, and still I'm captivated by this trailer. And no, it's not because Leonardo is in it...I could care less. Yes, I admit it. What are your thoughts on this one?

The Following

Hi Lovelies!

If you know me you know I love TV and movies. No wonder I'm taking a second film class, might as well be another one of my degrees. But I digress. I love TV and when a show captures my full attention, as in no cell phone, no book, no notes, not even time to drink or munch, then yes, the show has to be brilliant - at least for me. ;)

Heck I'm hooked!!!
But I wouldn't be a follower if you know what I mean.

Have you watched this?
If so, do you like or dislike it?

Lately...

...I have been feeling a little off. I can't blame it on the jet lag anymore. Sadly. It's now gone and I'm just feeling blah. This is normal, right?
So, I had to go out and head to Target. Target always makes me smile, especially when I come close to that one section that sells cute items. Just like that above mug. Isn't it cute?! I had to take a picture. Didn't purchase it. But couldn't resist its cuteness. Ahhhhh....

And as every girl, I also needed to feel girlie again...with clean nails, cuticles, and a brand new nail polish color brightening my confused day. :) It's Thanks a Million Windmillion by O.P.I. Loving it!!

I might not have purchased the cute mug, but I did get these pink flats. Couldn't resist. And that price? Come on!! Plus, I only have either black or gray shoes so a dash of color really has never hurt anyone, me included. Cannot wait to pair these with my favorite new scarf and top!!! I'm slightly excited!

I love this gum. Period. It's like having the best time ever in your life (so to speak) once you put it in your mouth. Okay, I now know how this may sound but yeah, I can't phrase it any different. That is, however, if you like apple pies and cinnamon and all. OH my I need another one right now. I might be slightly addicted to this gum now. At least it's better than soda...I think.

Finally, after so many years of watching How I Met Your Mother I figured out what the name of Ted's wife is (or the mother he always refers to!!). It was a rerun and we just watched it while doing laundry and such , and baaam it hit me. I heard the fun side note and was beyond stoked. Do you know it?!

And that's really my lil update for the week. (for more, check out my instagram)
Yes, no Fashion Post today. I wasn't feeling it :( Well, that's a lie, I actually forgot. Yes, I did forget. Who does that? It's Friday, and Friday means Fashion post. That simple. Apparently my brain didn't think so.

So what's going on with you my lovely readers?
Anything new?
Anything exciting?
Hope you are having a wonderful Friday and a fun-filled weekend!!!

xoxo

P.s. Should I ever consider fromspring or not?!

Working Girl

I am working on finals.
I am a busy girl.
So excuse me while I kind of neglect the blogworld and focus on some other things.
Also, it's funny how this blog title perfectly fits with my current status...if I could (actually I can) I would be writing the following on Facebook (but I won't, don't worry!):

I am not only writing a final essay on the film Working Girl, I am a working girl.

Kind of ironic.

And oh yeah, it's supposed to be 52 degrees and raining tomorrow. Ehhh, no???! Please???
I want to have fun from tomorrow afternoon on...and rain will not really be that much fun.
Hmmmm....can someone please push those rain clouds away? Thank you.

Hope you are having a great week.
Bear with me. I'll be back early next week to tell you all about my hopefully fun and crazy weekend and final week. Great combo, I know.

Miss you all.

Revolution

I'm a little obsessed with this show at the moment.
I call it a mixture between Romeo and Juliet and Robin Hood. Can't fully describe it why but oh boy I'm obsessed and so hooked!! It's definitely not what I expected. Then again, I didn't have any expectations. So, I was surprised that it hit my TV spot. I have shocked people when I told them that I don't watch Walking Dead or other shows that might go in the same direction. I just don't. But this? Hmmmm....it feels right at the moment. As I said it hit my TV spot

Plot Summary:
"Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution."

Do you watch this one?
Never thought I'd say it but I'm hooked.

Now I'm just in more trouble...my TV list keeps growing...and growing.

What do you watch?
What's new that is.
If I listed all the shows I would not be able to finish writing today.

Sucked Into {The Vampire Diaries} and Elena's Style

Hello - this is Ocean Dreams, aka Sierra taking over Selma's blog again. :)

Suncravingirl knows more than anyone right now how obsessed I am with The Vampire Diaries. Since I just started watching this show a few days ago (I'm starting with season 1), I'm embarrassed to say that I'm almost half way through the first season and it's only been a few days! It's that good.
But besides the amazing guy eye candy and can't-stop-watching aka keep-my-eyes-off-of the TV screen hypnosis I've been in, I've also been noticing the amazing fashion on this show. Isn't it fun hyper-analyzing each character's fashion preference and how it fits their personality? I think it is.

Which brings me to Elena. Her style is very much my style, except my clothing is a little bit brighter. Where we share a commonality in fashion though, is in her casual approach to wearing clothing. I can see her wearing a lot of the clothing on the site Damart. She loves wear jeans, flats, Converse sneakers, leather and bomber jackets, and darker shirt colors (like purple and red), that I think showcase her secret love for vampires. {Isn't she lucky that she gets Damon and Stefan all to herself?!} I'm jealous.
But anyway...Elena's choice of colors also complement her lovely complexion and dark brown hair. If I could dress Elena with similar elements and clothing that look similar to what I've been seeing on The Vampire Diaries (and remember I'm only in the first season), this is what I would pick for her to wear:
{ Free People Danger Top }
{ Splendid Thermal Henley }
{ Joe's Jeans Provocateur Petite }
{ Trench Coat - I think Elena needs one in red
to give herself a break from her leather jackets. }
{ Converse Shoes in Red }
{ Elena's Necklace via Kaboodle }

So what do you think of Elana's style? I think she could use some glitz now and again but other than that I love her style. From her Converse shoes to her dark thermals, Elena is ready to run from danger at a moment's notice. That is - when her handsome vamps aren't fiercely protecting her. I can't wait to watch more!

The Carrie Diaries - Sneak Picture Preview

image courtesy of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. / photo credit: Eric Liebowitz

As a huge Sex And The City fan I cannot even describe how excited I am about the upcoming new show The Carrie Diaries. Set in the 1980s, it portrays high school aged Carrie Bradshaw juggling life, love, friends, family, and of course her love for New York City, all of which made her the adorable Carrie we all know and remember from the hit series.

I read the book and fell in love.
Seeing AnnaSophia Robb in the role of young Carrie made me especially happy; because look at her?
She is Carrie!!!
I'm in love with her sparkly dress and the gorgeous red heels.
So the 1980s, but especially so Carrie Bradshaw. Love it!
What do you think of young Carrie and her look?

Are you as excited as I am?

Happy Saturday!

I'm still alive!

Hope you all enjoyed three spontaneous guest posts by my awesome friend Sierra! It wasn't planned that I have someone guest blog but that's exactly what I like...the unplanned decisions you make in your life. Glad I said yes. It helped a lot knowing I'm not fully neglecting my blog!
Thanks for blogsitting!

Yes, I was busy, and I just couldn't find time to go online and do anything else but school work. It'll pay off in the end but right now I question my decision to go back to college. Why on earth do I want another degree? Worth it? Maybe. Just the studying part is pissing me off.

Nonetheless, life's good so far.
On Wednesday I got a perfect compliment and I couldn't be happier about it.
Wednesday night I also enjoyed watching Modern Family; a much needed distraction.
If you don't watch that show you are missing out big time. It's awesome!!!!
I love Phil and Cam equally...and Gloria just cracks me up!
Did I mention I love Wednesdays?!

And, yes, I would also like to introduce to you my friend and her blog. Remember when I quickly talked about car problems we had a couple of weeks ago? Her interpretation of that day and even week can be read right here. While reading her version I re-lived every moment. Cracked up, too. It was quite the adventure.

Today, it being Saturday...March 3...I know two people who are celebrating their birthdays today.
Happy Birthday to both of you ladies, you know who you are!
And to add some birthday glam to this, I'm going to Huntington Beach today to celebrate someone else's birthday as well. Is it the birthday week or the birthday month of the year?! Really?!!

Worst part?!
I need a birthday gift ASAP!!!!

I know I suck!

Catching Up On Life

Hey y'all!
Guess where I have been?
Not around the blogosphere, that's for sure!

It's been an interesting week...let me tell you. Last weekend was fun, just because the car we sat in stopped working in the middle of a very busy street and we were lucky enough to drive it to the right side of that street so we would not block anything, or get ourselves killed (nothing worked, not even the lights!!!),  and wait for the police who was awesome enough to push our car along the street and around the corner, and leave with a huge smile on his face (then again it was dark, so he might not have smiled!).

We certainly had a blast just sitting in the car, getting pushed around, and feeling like complete idiots. Luckily, it is not our car! I know, horrible to see it this way...it belongs to the family but it isn't ours. I am just glad we don't have to sit in this car anymore. I have nightmares now.
Funny thing though...last week...we had to call AAA more than just once or a couple of times...and I know it's why my friend and I started giggling that night because we just couldn't contain ourselves anymore. It was just too much. Car problems are just never funny....and when you have it all in one week, every day...it just gets way too much and way too weird.

Also, over the weekend I signed up for a fun event...not a competition, but a really fun event! The Color Run! Not sure what I was thinking, because as you may all know (or now you will know) I am not a runner. I am not as active as I would love to be, and then I sign up for a 5k run?! What the heck? Really???
Then again, I can also walk and hey, I walk. I walk fast if I wear the right shoes and the right outfit....I'll be fine.  We can even crawl!!!  I hope it won't come to the crawling point but ya never know. Let's just hope it's not going to be 95 degrees...a nice 75 would be awesome. Fingers crossed!!

Worst of all...midterms are coming up.
Who ever invented these?
Seriously.

And who ever told professors to have midterms in the same week? STOP IT!!!
So, from today on...I'll be super busy, trying to put everything under one big belt...I have an English midterm on Monday and Wednesday (including a weird essay I don't even know how to start), an even weirder speech, no wait, two speeches, and a very confusing mythology midterm on Tuesday. Where to start?! Really!
And again, why did I go back to school?!
Am I NUTS?!

But in other, fun news...
...sort of fun I think...

I started "teaching" my friend how to blog...so her blog is up and running, but she's slowly starting to get used to it all, so once she gives me her thumbs up I'll share her blog with you all. It's a compilation of every day events, linked with fun stuff she does for her husband and more. :)

Before I end my weird, and quite long post of today.
I have to apologize because again, I am not putting up pictures I want to share with you. I know I suck.
BUT, I had to sit down today and even catch up on my DVR and watch some fun stuff, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show. This show makes me smile, happy, and just so incredibly inspired sometimes. Not sure why but it does. So Ellen, thank you!!!

And even though you might have seen this before...this little duet of Taylor Swift and Zac Efron cracked me up and made my whole past week and the upcoming craziness dissolve into nothing. I can smile again!!!!

Never liked the song, but with these lyrics...it's fantastic!

Yes, that has been my week...let's hope it slows down!
Hope yours is much much better and filled with more fun!

Cheer me up please!!!

Two Things

There are a few things I'm really looking forward to.
But for right now and the next three or so weeks...it's two things:

I read the book and LOVED it.
I chose to read the book a few years back because I needed something new to read.
I walked into the bookstore, and I pretty much grabbed the first book that sounded interesting and different than what I had read before...and...I started reading it and was intrigued, amazed, sad, happy, curious, and touched!

Cannot wait to see the movie.

Or the following one, obviously!

So excited!!!

Live With Soulfulness

While my fabulous best friend is still getting adjusted to our sunny California, I (aka Sierra from Ocean Dreams blog) am happy to be here guest posting for you all again!

Today I'm supposed to be writing and working, but I got a little caught up in a film called Soul Surfer. Have you seen it? It's SO amazing! I admit, I was a bit hesitant about watching it at first. I have a hard time watching someone go through pain, especially a limb being severed from your body. I most definitely cried when Bethany was attacked in the film and by the end of the movie, I was crying due to her perseverance and strength.
It made me really think about people who have come out of tragedy stronger than ever before. Sometimes I wonder why things have to happen a certain way, but I feel there is always a greater plan. Wonderful things can come out of a tragic accident. In Bethany's case, she allowed wonderful things to come her way by not backing down or ever surrendering. In fact - I was in awe of how calm she was through her accident and how eager she was to get back into the waves after her accident.
I've always had a secret fear of the ocean water and what lurks beneath the waves. This fear doesn't prevent me from going out into the waters, but I do most often wonder what is lurking beneath the shore. When I was in Maui about three years I was playing in the water near our time share. The water was murky. All of a sudden I felt an incredible amount of pain on my leg.
Well, it turns out I had been stung by a jelly fish! I know my encounter in no way compares to Bethany's accident, but it did scare me. My jelly fish sting healed, but I was in a lot of pain limping around for the next few days while I was in Maui. I would say my sting was at least 3-4 inches long. And yes, I admit I had to "pee on my wound" as they tell you to do. Believe me - it helps when your are in that much pain. It really made me thankful though that it wasn't something else that attacked me.
Through Bethany's story I've been inspired to live with soulfulness. Instead of letting her accident destroy her, she did quite the opposite! She currently is a professional surfer who gives to others and inspires everyone to never give up. I think there is so much conviction in this film that we can apply into our own lives.

I'm proud of Selma for taking the leap and following her dreams! Don't forget to follow your dreams too. Oh, and watch Soul Surfer! It's incredible!

TV Excitement

Never thought fall would be soooooo exciting!
Never thought I'd write and say I love Thursday nights!
Never thought I'd miss it...and then admit loving it!!!! :)

And I admit this much...its soundtrack is amazing and its tiny, hidden humor, too!!! :)

Sigh...
...I laughed so much watching it!!!
Finally!!!

Looking Forward To Fall

Fall season is just around the corner.
I'm not happy about it.
Sure, I love fall and its fashion and all but I'm going to miss summer.
Granted our summer this year wasn't anything special because it just seemed to be a mixture of fall and summer in one. Lots of rain, lots of cool air...lots of not so nice days...and then bammm hot summer days with endless hours of strong sun and scorching hot temps. A total crazy mixture. However, fall's around the corner and there are a few things I'm looking forward to: Today it's TV. ;)

This is just a few of the shows I'm looking forward to...ok, I admit it, I'm addicted. :)
I'm excited.
Who will survive?
Who will die?
Who will fall in love (again?!)
Who's going to act (more) crazy and wild?
Who's turning into a different person?
Who will or won't or....
I wanna know it all. Now!

Yes, I admit it...I'm addicted.
TV entertains me. Especially when I'm feeling down.
And these are just a few shows I'm looking forward to.
Wow, I am really so very much addicted. haha.

Have a fantastic day.
I off to Germany! :)
