My Friday Happies

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend my lovely readers!

This week has been a whirlwind of ups and downs, but mostly ups so that is a definite plus. Since this is the end of a long week I thought I wouldn't waste any more time but share with you what made me happy this week. Plus, I'm linking up with Krysten and Lindsay again. Ready?!

1. Netflix
2. Puzzles
3. Pinterest {are you following my crazy journey on Pinterest?!}
4. Coffee I can tolerate
5. Halloween Lights
6. Less pain
8. Finished Business {stupid paperwork is sent off and worked on}
9. New fall inspired nail polish
10. My FitBit {how do I challenge myself more?!}

It's been a good week.
I'm looking forward to the weekend though. Not only does my favorite person have Sunday off {very rare!!} but he also works regular hours that will leave me stranded at night. I don't like when he works until 11pm. No bueno. So, just knowing regular hours will be back next week makes me happy already. So yes, let me get happier today by applying the fall inspired nail polish to my nails...

Hope your Friday was wonderful.
Happy weekend my lovely readers...hope you are having a fabulous one.

Monday Love

Happy Monday!

I don't like it when plans get cancelled {twice} and nothing seems to work out as planned. Yet, on the brighter side when one sees the light at the end of the tunnel it is a good sign. Yes, plans got cancelled and we both felt devastated. However, this is not the end of the world. We can postpone our trips, reschedule to a later time. Even though I don't like to postpone things anymore I know this is what needed to be done.

Needless to say my weekend was not spectacular. We had plans and they got shattered into million pieces. Who knows when we can go have fun again. Yet, I made the best out of my boring weekend. I cleaned, pampered myself with a hot bubble bath {drought or not a girl needs her pamper time once in a blue moon; it's been about a year since I had my last bubble bath so give me a tiny bit of a break here}, watched girlie films I know my guy wouldn't want to watch {Endless Love, Walk to Remember, The Other Woman, A Lot Like Love, etc etc you get the gist}, drank some wine by myself, ate leftover meat sauce because my meat sauce is the best {nothing came out of a can or jar by the way; that is how I roll}, read through magazines, lit a Christmas candle, cleaned some more, created a grocery list so we are ready to spend a ton on food for the next two to three months {budget cooking and shopping is fun}, danced to loud music, got stronger through Pilates, worked on my resume, browsed a lot through Pinterest, organized the closet, and admired my new found love for Vanilla Almond Milk.

My weekend sucked but I made the best out of it.

How was your weekend?!

xoxo

November Madness

Halloween was Friday.
We carved our pumpkins the night before and had a blast.
I also just see that our balcony is really falling apart...it's okay, we will be moving again next year. Until then it better holds us. We went nontraditional and carved a Cinderella pumpkin as well. They aren't perfect, but that's what Halloween is about. It doesn't have to be perfect, it has to be fun. The imperfections make it special and unique. Cannot wait for next year's Halloween.

Friday night we stayed in, made steaks and salad and enjoyed delicious wine. Also, I might have snuck in a few pumpkin ciders. Oh, and yes, we watched horror movies. It rained most of the time Halloween Night so I felt bad for all the trick-or-treaters that went out. We didn't get any in our area so that was good. Not that I mind, I just don't have the money for all the candy. Speaking of trick-or-treaters, we drove through an area that is pretty popular during Halloween and later on Christmas time. People go out with decorations and all, not to mention the beauty of those houses. It is the fabulous 40s in Sacramento. I found a few houses that were spectacular and I wished it wasn't raining so I could have taken more photos. I still took a couple. Cannot wait to go back and explore Winter Holiday Flair soon.

Saturday and Sunday we pretty much stayed in. Studying was number one, and laundry was on my to-do list as well. Temperatures significantly dropped as well so it was nice to stay in for once and just cuddle up with a big fuzzy blanket, and sipping on hot chocolate. November Madness began. Yes, I just made this up. I mean, can you believe we only have two more months of this year and then welcome a new one? I can't. Time has gone by too quickly and it's just incredible. So, this month will be a little crazy. Not only will I start decorating for the winter holidays, buy Christmas gifts, create a Christmas lift for myself {never done this before, so hints are greatly appreciated}, and will hopefully go to Orange County right after Thanksgiving. Yay.

So, let this November Madness begin...we are already into day three....yipee!!!

Happy Monday!

How to Enjoy Rain

Happy Monday everyone.

How was your weekend? I hope it was filled with lots of fun adventures. Even if you stayed home I hope you were able to relax, sit back and enjoy a wonderful October weekend. As for us, we went away for a few days. We met up with the in-laws, and enjoyed a full weekend filled with wine-tasting, beer-tasting, pet-cuddling, and sunshine! It was needed. I miss having pets, so cuddling with dogs and cats was incredible. There is so much love given by a pet, it is the {almost} best feeling ever.

This weekend was also the weekend I had no computer, hardly any cell reception and just one book on me. It was relief and pleasure not to be connected with anyone at all times. I unplugged and it felt phenomenal. If you have ever done this you know this feeling. It's just pure, refreshing, and perfect - at least for one long weekend.

Now that we are back home this week will be busy!!!! Paperwork needs to be sent in {then we just wait}, my favorite person's job interview is Wednesday, some early Halloween fun will be part of this week as well as us going to San Francisco to meet a friend of ours. Cannot wait. I am so glad his work schedule is steady now and he gets Sundays off. He always worked on weekends and it wasn't fun. I could never plan anything. Last week his work finally gave him the okay to get a more steady schedule which allows him to balance school, life and work at once. Also, rain is in the forecast. Rain!!! I don't even remember what rain feels like, let alone temperatures that make you feel like fall. This week is going to be exciting, busy, fun-filled and hopeful.

So, I am enjoying rain...or just the thought of it looking forward to some drops falling onto the car today!

Happy Monday! I am ready for this week, are you?!

Happy Notes From Me

It is Friday. Time to quickly look back at this week, and time to look forward to the weekend.
I decided to share my happy and also my unhappy list with you. I feel I need to balance the two and not just focus on the positive. So, I can start working on the negative points.

Happy
Cooler temperatures (and by that I mean low 90s)
Finally changed my address at DMV
Apple Cinnamon Candle
Thank-You cards delivered to us
New Girl
The 5 Love Languages {great book}
Thoughts to change up this blog here

Unhappy
Unwritten Thank-You cards
Paperwork we both have to work on
No photos of us as a couple {we simply don't like photos taken of us...big problem}
Spiders
Decisions in regards to this blog

My main concern this weekend will be how to change this blog.
I know I will get my own domain {yes, finally, it's long overdue}, and switch a few things. If you have ideas, suggestions, etc please send them my way. Shoot me an email, please. :) Thank you.

I will also focus on fall cleaning. This will include the regular cleaning {carpet, cabinets, windows, mirrors, floors, and laundry}, and the cleaning of the closet {getting rid of clothes that no longer fit or have not been touched in years!!!} I can already tell that our walk-in closet will look splendid afterwards. It will be phenomenal. We will have space for new items and more colors!!!

How I Spent My Weekend

Our weekends usually start on Friday early afternoon. My favorite person chose Friday as a school day {who in the world does that?} and so he doesn't get out until 1pm. For weeks he had been bugging me to go find a massage place because his back had been killing him. I am not a huge fan of anything chain related {except Starbucks} but would not know of any other well-known company that offered massages and wouldn't charge a super fortune. So, we got us both appointments for Friday late afternoon and oh boy, it was just what we both needed.

I knew I was stressed and therefore tense, but apparently I was more tense than I thought I would be. Moving to another area, trying to adjust to a whole different lifestyle up here {I miss Los Angeles and Orange County, let me tell you}, the heat, the problems we have had with our apartment/TV set up, the many things I have to work on in order to make it happen here in general, our whole new life together, and the heat...it's peanuts but they all add up and they all cause pain. So, the massage was needed. Next month I am going back. I felt so much more relaxed and happy afterwards. Best Friday Date ever!

Saturday and Sunday we pretty much just chilled. He had to work and I was trying to find new recipes. Also, since moving up here we both have been dealing with allergies. We have always had allergies before and after a few weeks they'd go away. Not here. Anything we have been taking works only a few hours and then we are right back to where we started. Crying, sneezing, more crying, swollen eyes, you name it. Many people suggested to go to a local beekeeper and buy local honey sticks, or honey. Saturday it was our turn to stop by and get some honey because I was tired of the constant sneezing and watery eyes. The honey is amazing, and hopefully after a while will help us get adjusted to the area.

Other than that it was a boring weekend.
I am hoping for some more fun ones. I miss my girlfriends and brunch dates, or just coffee dates. Hopefully I find a way to enjoy these fun moments up here as well; with or without my friends. Hahaha. I will have a Selma-by-herself Brunch weekend update coming soon...let's hope that will never happen.

Happy Monday everyone.

Sending you warm hugs, literally.

Hot August Night in July!

When it gets too hot and too boring for us in Sacramento we often escape to Reno/Sparks. My favorite person's parents live there now {they moved from SoCal to the Reno area}, and it is a welcome change and an escape for us. This time we did not just relax at their new home and play with the dogs, we went to South Lake Tahoe to see the car show.

I am in love with old cars. I am also slightly obsessed with certain eras. I also believe I lived in the 1860s and 1920s, and 1940s. Call me crazy. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. Either way, when I see old cars, old photos, and old clothes {not just the "vintage" ones you see in stores} I get this chill and excitement at the same time. I am just in love. So you can image my excitement to go to a car show; let alone Lake Tahoe where it is so much cooler. We had a blast. Got sunburned, and fell in love with certain cars. I was a sport walking around with super excitement even though I had only slept 1 1/2hrs the night before. I could not fall asleep due to my left hand being in super pain, and me going through some sort of crisis {don't even know why - I should be happy, but apparently I am very stressed}. I was a zombie but still enjoyed every single car we saw.

I get very weak when I see Ford "A" Class from 1929 - Swoon!

We may go to the Hot August Night in Reno/Sparks next month, that is if we are in the area. Southern California is calling our names. We desperately need to go back. :)

What have you been up to all weekend long?

xoxo

Friday Outfit

Untitled #91

Happy Friday!
This is basically going to be my weekend outfit, or so I wish. I have to find the entire ensemble first. However, I have high hopes. Black skirts never fully go out of fashion {a girl must have a black dress and a black skirt}, and a touch of turquoise in the summer is a must. Whether or not I find a yellow top, and flats {I won't look for new sunnies, and use my cat-eye ones} I am sure I will be able to find the skirt and pair it up with something already hanging in my closet. It is my favorite moment ever, when I walk out the door in a dress or skirt feeling all girlie and ready to conquer the world. I cannot wait.

Do I have plans this weekend?
Not really. My favorite person is working again {what on earth, people. what on earth???} and I have a feeling I will spend it alone again. Dressing up and feeling beautiful has not hurt anyone...and maybe I am a lucky girl, and my guy gets home early so we can do something fun after all.

Have a great weekend!!!

I Want Them All! - Monday Morning Gossip

My weekend was relaxing.
I spent it with one of my besties and on Saturday went to the Pet Expo in Costa Mesa.
We did that last year, too.

There's so many birds, dogs, cats, donkeys, reptiles, fish,...you name it.
We loved and pretty much stayed in the dog-cat area just because
we don't want a yellow snake or a spider as a pet (no offense to those that do).
Once in the adoption area we just wanted to adopt all cats and all doggies.
We wanted them all!
We didn't though.
Yet, I saw a few people adopting on the spot and it was the cutest thing ever.

Sunday...I spent with my favorite person.
He surprised me by picking me up early.
He took me to his hometown of San Clemente.
There we went into the gluten free store they are having.
Having been gluten free for now over a year doesn't mean I know it all.
I know where I get my GF cereal for cheap, which bread I enjoy most, and
where I get my GF sauces, dressings, cookies, and what not.
Yet, every day I learn something new.
I find something new I didn't know existed in the GF department,
or I just find something I think I need.
I wanted it all.

I just got a cake mix, pretzels, and HUGE tortillas to make quesadillas (did I even spell that right?).
It was worth the money. :)

How was your weekend?
Relaxing like mine?

xoxo

Have a Great Weekend aka Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!

Despite the fact that I do not like Valentine's Day I am still a romantic girl. I love pink. I love flowers. I love candles, and kitschy music, little notes, and what not. This weekend will not be different. I will have a great time I am sure (yes, I'll be gone for a few days) but I will not engage in the craziness of this so-called love day. However, a little romantic thinking or additional pink collage creation never hurts - so here we go. Here's my Valentine's Day collection. I really would not mind owning all of these; especially the Kate Spade purse.

The Happiest Place On Earth

I had a stressful week.
It was so stressful that I literally fell asleep yesterday in my friend's car between classes.
This really never happened before. My body needed a rest.
Today, I'm studying, reading and getting ready for a fun weekend with my bestie! Not to mention a fun and needed trip to Disneyland!!!

What are your plans for this weekend?!

Anything exciting planned?!

xoxo

September 27, 2013

Happy Weekend...finally!

Happy Weekend everyone!
Any fun things planned?
As for me...I may go to Venice Beach with one of my bestie's and then enjoy a girls' weekend just with lots of laughter and fun. Plus, hello? Two movies came out this weekend that we both want to see...so we may want to squeeze in some Don Jon (hello, JGL!!!) and some Cloudy, with a Change of Meatballs 2. ;)

 {via}

No matter how old you are the inner child always comes out. Plus, this film is about food....yes please!

Have a great weekend....enjoy it to the fullest!!! It's the last before October starts. WOW.

Danish Wine Tasting

Happy Monday everyone!
It has been a while I know and I feel bad. The past few days have been enormously long, filled with all kinds of events, homework, and fun. I'm still exhausted. I even dare to say on here that I went to bed by 9.30 last night and slept through till 7.30. I'm still yawning and cannot wait to go back to bed to get some sleep. It's needed.

If the above photo doesn't look familiar...don't worry. It's form Solvang, CA, about 40 minutes from Santa Barbara (give or take). My friend had her Bachelorette Weekend there and well, yes, it was fun. I was dreading the weekend...six girls in one room that are all so very different from one another and already showed signs of huge disagreements weeks before the big event...I wasn't feeling it. However, it turned out better than imagined and I imagined the worse. So it was good.

The wine of course...what can I say?! I'm biased...so glad I'm not allergic to it.

I blog-failed and didn't take as many photos as I should. Then again you would have seen me or my friends with wine glasses in our hands...I mean, just imagine it. ;)

As cute as Solvang can be it is also quite boring at night. However, there was this fun place we discovered and literally spent the entire night at...so from 8 till 1-ish. It was quite the place to be. The bride-to-be had a blast, got a little more than just tipsy and needed a huge hangover breakfast the next day. Fun thing...whoever we saw that night in that bar we also saw at the breakfast place. It was like "hold on, didn't we dance together yesterday? Or saw you shake something wildly last night?!" - needless to say we all had our sunglasses on and pretty much kept them on all morning long. :) I spare you with detailed photos and info's. ;)

Loved my free shots...that was about all I drank, besides the wine of course!

I'm still so exhausted...because well, driving from Orange County to Solvang isn't just around the corner...and it didn't matter that we stayed a night...the drive itself is just so darn long. However, again, I think we all enjoyed out time and that's what counts. The bride-to-be is still embarrassed from all our stories because apparently someone cannot remember everything that had happened. Score! ;)

Have a fantastic start into this week.
It will a busy but a good one. :)

Happy Friday!

{via}

Happy Friday my lovelies.
I've been MIA I know.
Jet lag is gone. Yay.
Suitcase is unpacked, and clothes are stored away.
The dogs love me again (as if they ever did not love me).
The sun's sorta out, and the palm trees call my name.
I've met my best friend Wednesday for dinner and a much needed fun evening.
I've had sushi already (duh??!!!).
And I'm enjoying GF food available all over...thank you.

I still need to get into the swing of things.
However, I'm back and I'm loving it.

All I need to do is catch up with you all and meet up more friends I have missed over the past two months.

Going to a wedding shower this weekend will keep me busy.
Main problem:
What am I going to wear?!!
Ideas?

What about you? Any fun plans ready for the weekend?

Have a fabulous one.

Monday Morning Gossip - The Color Run

Good morning everyone.
Let's just say my weekend was long, colorful, and sleepless. :) But it was good.

Besides the usual last-minute final stress (two more weeks, two more weeks), I managed to crawl out of bed at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning so I could volunteer at a marathon in the middle of nowhere. The city girls, my roommate M. and I, were thrown into the wilderness. We had to read a pamphlet explaining what to do when meeting/seeing/spotting mountain lions. You should have seen our faces and heard our discussions. We survived three hours of volunteering, handing out water and Gatorade, not getting attacked by wild beasts, and cheering the running crowds on. Oh yes, they were running 20k's and 12k's. Impressive. I couldn't do that.

But I could do the following 5k again. :)

The Color Run!!

I'm impressed my phone made it without getting any color on it.

My friend's work was crazy enough to do that same exact run, too.
OneScreen Team in full force and all clean right before the run started. :)

On our way closer to the end we decided to slow down because funny group pictures had to be taken. :) Never mind my face!

My friends and I had a blast...we were seven people, plus the OneScreen crew...at some point we lost each other but made sure to somehow find each other again. It was a colorful blast. One I'll be gladly doing it again next year (for a quick recap: last year's photos).

I'm still having pink on my skin since yes, that's the color that stays on the longest. Scrubbing, soap and whatnot sometimes help, but I love my skin too much and don't want to over scrub my body...so I really don't mind having some pink stains a little longer than usual. I'm sunburned, but energized. The Color Run isn't just a run, it's a fun-factor and brings people together. Glad I did it again, and glad my friends could join too.

That's my gossip for today.
I'm linking up with Leeann and her weekly Monday Morning Gossip. You should, too. ;)

Monday Morning Gossip - I am alive!

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a fantastic weekend, and a wonderful week before that. I have yet to read all of your lovely posts and comment accordingly - that is, if time permits. :(

It's been a hectic weekend. Not only did I study all week last week so I did have all weekend to do nothing at all, but I also struggled with personal strength and personal growth (if that makes any sense). Last week showed and taught me that I have wonderful friends who encourage me and make me laugh when I need it the most. Also, it taught me to stand up for myself and not to justify every single move I make. I can laugh whenever I want to laugh, I can do whatever I want to do, I can and show be allowed to say whatever and whenever I say something, and I can schedule my school work the way I want it to be scheduled and that is it. Nothing more, nothing less. My life and my moves.

A new week started and this only means more work for me.
I'm going to work on final papers, final projects and presentations, and at the same time trying to enjoy life.

This morning, someone my roommate knew and me, too, passed away. He was sick, and yes in pain, but he is now in a much better place, save and healthy. Life is too short, and too precious to take it for granted. And yet, most of us still take it for granted. It has shown us once again that we just need to enjoy every single moment we get.

With that being said, I had a great weekend (went to a wedding in Bakersfield) and am definitely looking forward to a wonderful week ahead even though it's going to be busy. Busy, sometimes, is good though. May is around the corner, and that means my travel plans are approaching faster and faster. I'll be leaving with mixed feelings but that's nothing new.

Don't forget to link up with Leeann today, and join the Monday Morning Gossip Fun.

Monday Morning Gossip - A little late...but okay!

Happy (Easter) Monday!

How was your weekend?
If you celebrated Easter I hope you had a fabulous time. :)

This weekend was packed. There was babysitting, a baby shower and a baseball game involved. Then Easter Sunday...the usual, church, and fun lunch to see a former teacher of mine. She's that kind of person you want to have around in your life. Whether or not you meet her once or twice or multiple times around the year. She's pure happiness and love combined. I almost forgot how contagious her enthusiasm is and it totally brightened my day. That was my highlight of the weekend.

Other than that, I had a horrible weekend. Especially when it came to my emotional side. There's so much going on I can't fully concentrate, sleep, organize my crap, or just have some me time. We all know how important me time is, and heck it's been hectic. However, life is good so far - it goes on. Blah.

And yes, the above photo was taken this weekend. I went to a Baseball game. One I always wanted to see. Angels vs. Dodgers. For years I'd been a huge Dodgers' fan...and for the past two years I've grown to become an Angels' fan. See my dilemma? Yes, but I was rooting for the red team...and they won. ;)

What I'm looking forward to this week though is getting some more homework done, and seeing family again. Wooohoooooo!! Finally! Fingers crossed everything works out as planned though.

Let's hope it's gonna be a good week. Today was a horrible day, and I'm super exhausted. It's not even 8.30pm yet but I'm headed to bed soon. :(
